Lower control arm snapped while reversing - 06 GT

Thanks for the help, guys. I went ahead and got the GT500 parts for both arms, which arrived tonight. The tie rod bushing was torn, too, so I'm going to replace both and then get an alignment done.

Lower control arm snapped while reversing - 06 GT

Hey everyone, I have a 2006 Mustang GT. Yesterday I got two new front tires replaced. The car drove fine afterward, no clunking or any sounds. Later that night, as I reversed into my parking spot with the wheel turned all the way to the right, the passenger-side lower control arm snapped clean...

P0171 Code almost instantly: tune or the usuals?

I did both — the guy that reinstalled my transmission hadn't torqued the flange nuts properly, so I set them to 33 ft-lbs. https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=310&f=Catalytic%20Converter%20-%204.6L,%205.4L.pdf I used high-temp exhaust putty and tape since I was in a pinch, and it's still holding, but that...

P0171 Code almost instantly: tune or the usuals?

I had the same issue with only Bank 1 running lean. In my case, it was a couple of pinhole leaks just below the flange gasket (right above the upper O2 sensor) between the cat and exhaust manifold. I also found that the flange bolts weren't fully tightened. After re-torquing them and patching...

    Reman 5R55S Throwing P0741 (Flashing O/D Light)

I had a reman 5R55S installed at the end of July, filled with Mercon V synthetic. Drove fine for ~6 weeks, then the O/D light started flashing with P0741 (Torque Converter Clutch Performance/Stuck Off). No other codes. What I know: Fluid may not have been set correctly at install (engine...

Headlights + Horn Issues – Dim/Yellow Lights, Cutting Off While Driving (2006 Mustang GT)

You were right — the connector was the problem. When I stripped the loom back, I found the passenger and drive side headlight wires had been spliced into the wrong positions. I also found exposed copper causing resistance/heat. After correcting the wiring to the proper pin order per the...

Headlights + Horn Issues – Dim/Yellow Lights, Cutting Off While Driving (2006 Mustang GT)

I checked with the key ON (engine off). Battery ~12.4V. Also found that the headlight(s) only comes on fully when I hold the red tab halfway — all the way in or out doesn't work. Passenger headlight connector readings: Low beam (brown/pink): ~7.2V (lights off/red tab is not positioned) → jumps...

Headlights + Horn Issues – Dim/Yellow Lights, Cutting Off While Driving (2006 Mustang GT)

UPDATE: The First image is on the low beam position, and the second image is with the front fog lamps on. After a couple of minutes, the headlights go out as seen below. Originally, I thought it was the bulbs, so I replaced them with H13 halogen bulbs, but no change. Been driving with just...

    Hollow Rattle/Light Knocking Under Car

This ^ and also I had somewhat of a similar issue on mine. I was getting rattling sounds at certain rpms and it turned out one of my exhaust hangers had snapped, so the exhaust was vibrating closely against metal. Also, do you notice the noise right after a cold start, or only once you're driving?

Headlights + Horn Issues – Dim/Yellow Lights, Cutting Off While Driving (2006 Mustang GT)

Going to try and snag a pic and video of the headlights at night when i get the chance to share.*

Headlights + Horn Issues – Dim/Yellow Lights, Cutting Off While Driving (2006 Mustang GT)

I've been chasing headlight and horn issues on my 2006 Mustang GT. The passenger side headlight is rarely even on, just a very faint dim glow. The driver's side works for a moment in park, but as soon as I shift into drive, it shuts off after a few minutes. When it does light, it's yellowish and...

5R55S – Lost Reverse and Drive, 1-2-3 Still Work – Likey Not the Sprag

I haven't changed the fuel filter or checked the injectors yet, but I do plan to. I'll also look through the injectors, since the car sat for about 2 years and I'm trying to refresh most of the rubber pieces. Most of the hoses in the bay are still intact and in good condition. The main issue I...

5R55S – Lost Reverse and Drive, 1-2-3 Still Work – Likey Not the Sprag

UPDATE (July 2025): Hey everyone — just wanted to give a full update since my original post. I ended up replacing the transmission with a reman from Street Smart. After the install though, I ran into two smaller issues: Shifter Rattle While Driving Right after the trans swap, I noticed a...

5R55S – Lost Reverse and Drive, 1-2-3 Still Work – Likey Not the Sprag

Had my buddy open up the rear of the transmission to take a second look. The 4th and 5th clutch plates looked a bit brown from age but weren't burnt or damaged. Bands were intact, and the servos looked okay. The OD sprag did have a small crack in the cage, but it wasn't completely blown apart...

5R55S – Lost Reverse and Drive, 1-2-3 Still Work – Likey Not the Sprag

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I've got a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6 with the 5R55S auto trans. After accelerating to merge on the highway, I suddenly lost both Drive and Reverse — car felt like it slipped into neutral. No movement in D or R, just revs. I was able to drive it home using 1, 2, and 3...
