Will this size tire be ok to run on a 9.5 inch wheel? I found a set of basically new Nitto 555r's locally for less than 1/2 price and although they are little shorter than the 285/40's I am currently running, this would be a fairly inexpensive way to get into some DRs. I also figure this slightly smaller diameter will be beneficial at the track.

Nitto calls for a 10 inch rim.

Anyone running this size tire on a 9.5 inch rim?? If so, post up some pics and feedback.

I kind of figured they would be ok, but I wanted a couple opinions before dropping the money. In seeing a couple pics from the seller who had them on his GT500 before getting the SS conversion done, the side walls look fairly normal.

I have 285/40's on a 9 inch rim. Prolly will fit similar to mine.

Ive got 275/40 on my 18x9 and they fit the wheel great. You should have no problem with it.

Is anyone familiar with the difference in the NT555R Drag Radial and NT555R II Extreme? I found both tires offered in this size and may get them next, unfortunately the treadwear rating is only 100 and will be using them for an everyday tire. Except I hardly drive the car much at all.

you can run it with no problem at all. Nittos tend to run shorter and narrower anyways. I am running the same tire on my roush 18x10.Great tire so far, still needs to see the track.

555R is a drag radial for the strip, the 555R II is for road race with a stiffer sidewall. Same tread design and same material.

How about on an 8" stock 17 rim, what would the best size for some nittos be? I met some guy at the track who had 315's on one the back of his, wonder if that was safe?
