this past year i installed a catch can on the 4.0 n/a engine, and wanted to share how its done.

i bought the can off ebay. its a square universal can, but was listed for a ford. the first can, a cheaper smaller round can i bought would not work and went in the scrap pile. this one has the right size fittings for the hoses. this is the can i have, although this ad has ended, there are many other sites selling the same can for around $30 shipped

the bracket wouldnt work, the blue hose is junk, but the can is real nice.

i got the 19/32" crankcase vent hose from oreillys. it comes in 20" pc`s for about 3.00 ea. watch though, i bought 2 pcs and they folded the hose into the box which made most of one hose kinked up scrap. i had to fabricate a bracket that bolted in place with the bolt from the computer, which is a perfect out of the way spot, and wide open under to drain to the floor. i might make a new bracket so the can will sit up higher though at some point.

remove the hard plastic vent tube from the pcv valve and the intake by pushing the green button sideways and pulling off. i cut a slice in the hard tube to remove the 90 degree fitting to make the hose fit nicer to the catch can. the hose fit perfect on the stub out of the intake, the 90 elbow and the fittings on the can. a little teflon tape on the fittings, cut the hose and fit and clamp good. done. this should stop alot of oil from being pumped into the intake and throttle body

4.0 n/a oil catch can results

about a oil change and a half i started seeing oil in the sight glass and was pretty excited. it sits up off the bottom a ways, so i poured it into a glass to see how much was in there, 2nd pic. wow, that would have went into my intake. the 2nd time i dumped it was even more, but closer to 2+ oil changes( maybe 7,500 miles) 3rd pic
