Last summer I put a new 07 GT500 mycolor guage cluster new from Tusley Ford into my 05. I got the TMPS shut off in the cluster now, but I was wondering if I get wheels with the TMPS sensors in them can I get the TMPS turned back on in the cluster and have a working TPMS system? Is there more to the TMPS system then just the cluster and the sensors in the wheels?

the TPMS control is part of the smart junction box.. if you change that, you'll need to reprogram everything with a Ford IDS VCM to get your keys to work, etc

Thanks for asking this question - and the answer! I've wondered about this for quite some time and now I know.

Quite some time ago (after thinking one of my tires looked a bit soft and finding it had 10 psi in it) I bought a set of stem mounted indicators that are green at full pressure, turn yellow and then red if pressure gets low. All it takes is a quick glance around the car to identify a problem.

Those stem indicator's are notoriously inaccurate. Be warned.

Is there a way to disable the TMPS all together? They don't seem to like my drag radials

Indeed, I wouldn't depend on them to indicate accurate full pressure (I checked one recently that was down by 6 psi and still showed green) but they will show a seriously low tire. I checked them by bleeding off air until I got some indication and it took about 10 psi. Still better than the blowout I had a couple of years ago!

Nobody has been able to find a way. Some have put all of them on the spare or all of them in a pressurized pcv tube.

I have them in my drag radials and they work fine. I get a false tpms light once in awhile. It's happened 3 times since I changed over to drag radials all the time. That's less than once a month. I think one of the used sensors I bought is a little flaky.

Maybe mine are out of order? I am thinking they where programmed for each wheel. When I bought new tires for all 4 I bet they didn't go back on the right spot? I have had the light non stop since I got tires regardless of what pressure is in them.

You wouldnt be able to rotate your tires if this was the case...

They aren't position dependent. See if you can reprogram them anyway. Maybe the tire shop got them mixed up with some others they had or didn't install them. A programer is about $25 iirc.
