Now I can't seem to find many HONEST STOCK results with stock tires and stock tire pressure. Our 13.0 I think was pretty decent, and I think if we had really pushed the car we could have gotten 12.90's out of it. A stock manual should just barely be able to beat that with stock pressures, stock tires... maybe 12.75 at quickest. We have 19" (crappy) tires. The factory auto doesn't want to bark the tires whatsoever. It's got a nasty delay, a very soft shift (decent 1-2 shift), but I think the reason the 1-2 feels so drastic is because of the drastic gearing change.

So all-in-all I was pretty happy with a 13.0 @ 110mph. We're doing some filming this week... stay tuned! :)

Not from the numbers I've seen.

obviously the sticks are easier out of the gate, sticky tires, dump it high and your gonna run a second faster.

once the autos get converters, ect.. they will be running.

as matter of fact, isn't the fastest and only 9 second '11 an automatic??

Good point and a 3spd at that without the gearing advantages we have.

These cars will be rockets, it won't matter stick or auto, lets save the *&^% waving to us against all other models and brands

Yeah, so with that being said, I was pretty close with my assumption of a 12.90 with a realllllly good launch.

Were you using stock tires? Stock PSI? Or were they deflated a little bit?

first run and quickest was 25psi. 15 minutes off the street with a 1 hour drive.

Fred told me to do 18-19 and stall to 11-1200.

I figured i'd start with 25 and see what she does hot.

let it cool for 45 mintues, dropped down to 19. as soon as i launched i got 0 chirps 0 spin, i knew it wasn't good, i launched off ilde too, figured i'd try it like that. went a 13.3 with a 2.11 60'. still picked up to 107.9 mph.

but it was 90 by then, so i took my 2 passes and was good with that

I'm not disparaging the autos, fellas. I just figured that most folks (who would be inclined to install performance parts) would have manuals, and most of the time the manuals would be a little faster.

However, the explanation about the tuning considerations certainly made sense.

Not disparaging the manuals, but the fact is, you have it backwards,....once you start modifying, Autos are much faster.

in a straight line with tons of $$ in the tyranny. Also now with WOTBOX's that distance is much shorter :thumb:

ok..ok... I missed the C4 part.. small details :beerdrink: haha

but I'm sure it would have been faster with a wotbox :naughty1:

Hell, I might have missed it but I'm still waiting to see a non-built auto take 100 shot. We know the sticks can survive it.. but can they.

I put probably 50 bottles of 125 shot through my car.Stock trans, stock driveshaft, stock control arms, etc. The entire drivetrain from the crankshaft back(including the convertor) was the way it left Ford. I did have drag radials and a 3.73 gear however. The trans now has 65,000 miles on it with no issues at all. Did break a rod a while back and put a few holes in the block though, lol!!
Basically, i had a cold air kit, tuner, gear change, drag radials and thats about it.I am very impresed with the way the auto trans in these cars performs.

I read that the 6R80 transmission can take 800 ftlbs of torque. That is why it ends in 80, like the 60 used to take 600 lbs etc.

I read that here:

http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23172-6r60-vs-6r80-6-speed-auto-transmission/

the quote is:

The last 2 digits (60 vs. 80) indicates the torque capacity. 60 = 600 and 80 = 800 ft/lbs. The torque converter will produce a peak torque multiplication of around 2:1 so that means the 6R60 can handle approx. 300 ft/lbs from the engine while the 6R80 can handle approx. 400 ft/lbs. So yes, that's a beefier trans.

When someone posted this, there was no reply:

How's that so? The Mustang has 320 lbs of torque yet uses the 5R55S. 55 = 550 / 2 = 275 ft/lbs. That's 45 ft/lbs. shy of the engine output.

Regardless there are transmission shops all over the country scrambling to upgrade these and by spring we will have at least 5 different places to pick from.

I like my auto. So far, fastest ET was a 12.69 with a D/A of 2300FT at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY last Sunday, bone stock with 265/40-18 MT ET Streets.

Next trip, will have 4.10s installed and new 28X9-15 MT ET Drags, hoping to hit 11.90s if we get a decent D/A. :)
