Looking around into some longtube headers, was gonna do shorties but my car is no longer a daily driver so I figured id play with it now lol. saw the mac setup with the pro chamber for a decent price but curious with them being aluminized instead of stainless. I know alot of people say kooks and arp but I cant fork 1300 bucks on headers. Are there any other brands that are good with out breaking the bank?

There are tons of threads about this. Mac's are great and fit perfect. The quality is nice and they won't fade or change color after time. Make sure you get the Ceramic coated version. Use stock gaskets and stock header bolts.

I searched but couldnt find anything about them being aluminized and how well that holds up compared to a stainless header. But if they are worth the money getting and fit good and hold up well sounds like the way to go for my budget.

They are not aluminized. The headers are mild 16 gauge steel that can be bought chromed (cheaper) or Ceramic coated (a bit more costly). the ceramic is supposed to keep the heat in and keep the headers from rusting. i have heard good things on the coating. My car is not driven in the rain/snow so I think they will last a long time. The prochamber is Stainless. Not sure why but all Mac's products are stainless except their headers... go figure. It's a great product if you go in that direction. Kooks is also good and full stainless for a full stainless price.

Just search the net for ceramic coated headers and you will find lots of info.

Oh ok thanks, I was under the impression that they were aluminized.

I'm not complaining about the quality of the headers, but driving occasionally in the winter they haven't held up very well in my opinion:

I had them on my fox body that never seen winter and they were almost this bad after about 4 years. Kinda let down by the coating

My friend bought the coated ones and they looked like that after 2 years. With Mac you get what you pay for.
i do like the sound they put out

they've been making motorcycle exhausts for a long time, same deal on bikes though, they rust easy. seems like they are more for go than the show
