Switched out my stock driver seat ystdy using the yellow terminator plug for the air bag. Getting a 51 blink code. My searches found ref to 13 and 49 blink codes but not 51. Can anyone define it and suggest a fix?

Found this on the net bud, not specific to our year but the same code seems to be used throughout the ford lineup if you search google for it.

http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/airBag/airBag92.html#CODE51

Basically it states your airbag system is disabled because a thermal fuse has been opened. It's a safety feature to keep the airbags from deploying randomly if the system gets random ground signals.

Did you disconnect your battery when you installed the seat and associated electronics?

This is what I've learned in the last 5 min... so anyone else with more experience please chime in. My feelings won't be hurt if I'm totally wrong here.

Thanks
I did disconnect the battery (and bled any residual current by hitting the brakes a few times). Just found another gremlin. My info system (mileage, etc) is not working (no lights). interesting part is they work ystdy after the new seat was in. Any thoughts?

Im pretty sure that is incorrect. the 05 mustangs have different blink codes than previous fords.

Very cool, glad I was proven wrong. Sounds like an easier fix for my buddy Latch.

When's your first track day by the way? April 16th and 29th is still available up here at Pacific Raceways. That racing seat will make a huge difference. Are you swapping restraints too?

yup incorrect. 51 is Driver Safety Belt Buckle Switch Circuit Short to Ground

On the next page is also states:
51 - Driver Safety Belt Buckle Switch Resistance Out of Range

So, if you removed the seat and belt, you're probably getting a code because it's not sensing the stock belt latch.
