Brembo Upgrade

I got hold of some 4-piston Brembo calipers that supposedly came off a Mustang (don't know what year).

When I compare the mounting ears with a stock 2011+ GT caliper, the Brembo ears are farther apart.

Does this mean I have incompatible calipers, or that I need brackets?

If I just need brackets, does anyone have a Ford part number?

I believe they are supposed to be the exact same width on the stockers and brembos. The brembos dont use adapters, they bolt right on...... I hope somebody didnt rip you off!

Well, it's my own fuckin fault if they did. I normally research the hell outa stuff before I pay money for something. Everybody involved assured me these calipers would work and I took their word for it.

The front caliper on the GT mounts to a housing and the housing mounts to the knuckle/spindle. It is my understanding that the Brembos mount directly to the knuckle/spindle and do not use the housing that is used on the GT. If you are comparing the mounting surfaces, they may be different because one uses the housing and the other does not.....

Just thinkin out loud here (so please don't think I'm arguing with you) ...

Just for reference, I have a 2012 Mustang that used to be a V6.

I don't see how that's even possible. Both the stock V6 and stock GT brakes have different brackets to position the stock caliper a specific distance from the spindle (based on rotor size - the GT front brakes are bigger). When I upgraded to GT sized rotors, I had to get new front caliper brackets.

If the brembo rotor is even bigger than the GT part (and I'm going from memory here), it didn't look to me like the ears are going to position the caliper far enough out to use the 14-inch rotor without the use of some sort of bracket that bolts to the spindle, and then allows the caliper to bolt to it.

Don't know - I'm gonna have to take off on of the OEM calipers to see if the Brembo will a) bolt on and b) be far enough away from center to allow a 14-inch rotor.

I'll check it out when I get home from work today...

Post a pic of them. I had a set of GM Brembos that were totally different from the Mustang Brembos.

I took my brembos off when I put my GT500 brake coolers on, at least from the factory they just bolt directly on

Y'all are making this too complicated. If the Brembo calipers don't bolt DIRECTLY onto the hub assembly, you have the wrong part.

In for the pics. Like Sky Render said, if it don't fit.....its the wrong part. I did my install on my 6-pistons and it was very simple and obvious to install. Hope someone didnt sell you brembos off an old suburu or something.

There is a set of brembos that need a bracket to fit. I forgot what they are off of, ill see if i can look it up. Maybe he sold you those....

I found it. Maybe they are the FR500S Calipers? I remember reading in this for sale thread they they require a bracket. Part# M-2134-R

Like a few people said previously, I just recently installed Brembo front calipers on my '13 GT Premium. I ordered front rotors off a track pack and everything bolted right up, no additional bracket or adapter needed. Only thing you will need if you don't have is the brembo specific brake line.

Alex 5.0, The stock GT lines will work with the Brembo's. No specific lines are needed. That being said, if you track the car at all, At a min I would install the Boss 302 lines, Side by side you really can't tell the difference.

If you're going to swap lines, you may as well go all the way & get braided SS lines and be done.
