i was at the track and noticed, a white gt500 line up on the staging line, i know this car likes to race on the street, and is know around. has few more horses than stock and so, i think a kit from evolution performance. anyway...

i see him run, and my friend asked him to race while he let the car cool off. my friend has an 03 vert termi. and he said yeah. after like 10 mins. he asked him again but he kind of ignore him. then i see he lines up again. i go and ask him.

me: Hey man, whats up. do you want to race the yellow gt over there
he: oh, do u have a blower a turbo or something else maybe nitrous. if not it would be a waste of time.
me: :LMAO: well i have a bottle but i wasnt thinking on using it tonight. but i could open it if u want, whats your best time anyway.
he: the best i have done is a 7.9
me: :wtf:then i'll race you on motor only then :evillaugh:
he: looks confused now and saids. why whats your best n/a?
me: 7.8s 7.9s
he: wth do u have done.
me: bolt ons :beerdrink:
he: :eek:hsnap: and starts like ignoring me. and i just walked away.

the guys best match was the uglist hond civic that was there with a 75 shot. they ran like a 8.6 and he beat the honda for lie .0049 or something and all his crew where jumping around. he raced the very last race of the night. which looked like a 8.4 8.2 he comes out of the car and said he got a 7.6 which i did not belive for shit.

he did not want to race me at all after that, and the crew with the honda guy where trying to rematch since the guy previusly ran an 8.1 and they were making fun how he did not want to race and stuff.

a lot of owners around here are like that. I have on video my first time racing my car was against a gt500. My friend video taping was standing next to some people and you can here the guy say, the shelby is gonna kill me.... Well I killed him.

If i ask them to race now they look at me weird. I must say that many regular gt owners are assholes too.

My last day at the track in 2005 I ran 12.69 N/A.
In the spring I installed a set of 4.10's and headed to the track to see what it would do.
I get there and see 2 guys unloading S197's off of trailers and installing Bogarts so I go see what they have.
1 is a Saleen with a Saleen blower running the stock 4.5 psi boost.
The other is a Roush clone with a Roush supercharger.
We chat for a whaile and I even tell them about the blower upgrades JDM was doing at the time for the Saleen.
I finish installing my drag radials and get ready to make a pass and all of a sudden the Saleen is lining up against me.
I get him on the tree but he hooks much better than me and beats me with a 12.65 to my 12.72.
Right after the race both he and his buddy come see me and ask me what I have done to the car. I tell them that the car is all bolt ons with a stock motor.
Throughout the rest of the day the Roush never ran better than 12.85 and the Saleen never saw better than 12.65.
I was still trying different settings to see if I could get my car to launch better off the line.

Getting close to the end of the day the guy with the Saleen asks me if I'd like to run against him one more time and I said yes.

On the last run I pull a perfect launch and run a 12.46 to his 12.60 and you can see he is pissed.
He and his buddy were convinced that I was spraying the car and even went as far as telling my friend that owns a local Mustang shop that I must have heads and cams in the car.

You should never underestimate your opponent.

thats ussually what happens to me, if u ask me i would tell you a have full bolt ons, becuase thats basicly what i have. im not going to list the whole thing to you, i just say i have a built motor low compression with a lot of bolt ons. even touh i have a stroker kit on the engine, the compression is lower. so it isnt at full potential.

when i race everyone starts saying that i am spraying. and that makes me mad. well now that im really spraying i feel like im cheating for some reason. but i run n/a what most of the ppl run with a couple bolts and nitrous, or close to stock supercharged or turbo. and i guess that makes those ppl get mad.

But the mods for them after that are pretty pricy
at the end any car could be fast. it depends on how much u spend. my friend civic has closi to 10k only, it started as a shell, we put a motor, tranny turbo kit, and upgrades little by little. and there is motor coming. his best by now is an 8.1 but he is not used to the car yet. but on the street. i take a big jump on him, and on the top end he start to gain all back, and whe end up together.

what about gtr owners, mods are expensive but it doesnt mean because u paid more ur car would be faster.

sadly a lot of times people don't know how to drive vehicles with a power adder... If a vehicle's wheels and suspension is only going to let you get 300HP to the ground, it dont matter how much your motor can put to the ground.. You're only going to get 300.

While this is true for most, i had a prety fun setup this summer with my 20's and bone stock suspension. I put 500rwhp and 535rwtq down in my car but with the stock converter the car would leave n/a and then the boost would roll in after it was rolling. it was able to beat alot of faster cars on my 20s than most cars. I still may go after some type of a 20" true radial record after i turn it up a bit.

Haha, what a jerk.

My first time racing, my friend in a v6 handed me my ass. After we were done racing he tells me, "your bogging down on the line because you have the traction control on, you need to turn it off" Lesson learned, at least I kept racing him. And Driving skills and experience do make a difference, I don't care how much power you have, less power with a better driver is a threat.

Haha, I agree with that too. I just think all out power is cool when you want to talk about what you've done to your car, but too many people just add crazy power and do not have any thing to support it and then wonder why they loose to a bone stock car at the strip.
What good does 600rwhp really do you when all your doing it spinning the tires down the road at 35mph in 5th gear reving at 64k RPM?

my 20's didnt seem to hurt my butt dyno that much either. dont weight that much more than my stockers... Like 4lbs i think.

That's why I have that quote in my sig...
True. About 6-8 weeks ago at Barona there was a guy with a vert S197 with bored 302 and a vortech or magnacharger s/c. Because he had street tires, the best time he could get was high 8s. If I remember correctly his traps were around 90 mph.

That's similar to what do a 400 WHP and a 800 WHP supra have in common?
