Well, I am in Sal Sinjar Iraq. So far this month the elements have not been too kind. We either have dust storms or it rains and the camp gets muddy as hell. Anyway, this is the perfect time to save for mods. I plan on saving for the following: New Rims. Thinking about FR500s 18x9 (leaning towards black with silver lip), BFG KDW 2 255/45/18, Blisten shock and strut kit, new spark plugs (still have the old plugs), new clutch (old clutch is still working, but car has 52,000) I am not sure what clutch, as I am not sure if I will go FI in the future. M&H drag radials 275/50/17. I am still keeping my 17x8 rims. I may sell two of them.

I have just over 6mths to save and I am making an extra grand or so.

Deployments are the best way to save, plus you'll change your mind abbout what mods to do first about three times a month while you're out there...
My 2008 Iraq tour paid for the new suspension - this year's Afghan tour will pay for...hmmm...well it's either going to be a Vortech S/C or an external makeover with GT500 front/rear bumpers and hood...plenty of time to change my mind on that.

What's business like up there? We had it pretty quiet down in Basrah...I'm expecting Helmand Province to be slightly more 'entertaining' work-wise, assuming it's still like it was when I was there in '06.

My 06 Iraq tour put a blower and suspension on my car... last years Afghan tour made both cars completely my own; no more debt!

1st one put the big down payment on the car, second one was mostly used for suspension and got a used kenne bell (wound up selling it), 3rd one was mostly used for little things, and this current one will get the procharger plus a bunch of other shit (already got a new camera, might get another guitar)

still hate deploying with a passion.

Deployments are great for paying off vehicles and buying parts. It also gives you lots of time to research what you want to get before you actually get it.

Good luck over there and be safe!! Deployments are definitely great for saving money and paying off debts. I used my mula to go to Australia and put the down payment on the car as well. I would love to go again for the money, but that's about it.

BFG KDW 2 255/45/18

I'm not a fan of the KDW2's. They are the noisiest tire ever created next to off road truck mudding tires. They are so many more tires out there that handles just as well or bette and aren't so noisy. I'm so glad I sold my previuos car with the KDW2's or else I was going to replace the tires even throy only had 5,000 miles on them. I literally had trouble hearign the stereo while drivign 70 MPH down the highway. Multiple alingment changes didn't help the noise issue. Other KDW2 owners have reported similar noise issues. Most of the reviews I read on tirerack and other sites said similar things. I know a few people that replaced their KDW2's with under 10,000 miles on them because of the tire noise.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires are currently on sale at tirerack.com for $137 each in 255/45/18. I'd take those any day over the KDW2's.

I wonder how the KDW2 compared to the original KDWs. I have the original KDWs and I don't think they are that loud.

Quiet here as well. This week our biggest project will be installing new piss tubes. We already installed two new sets and named them Sinjar Falls and Sinjar Springs.

Call me "sir" gawdamnit!

hehehe... in 06, it was 7 months in Baghdad with the Iraqis not spending much, not married, and a big tax return as a result (including my first full year of owning a house). I had a garage full of parts that I trucked over to Dynospeed in Memphis to have installed... I probably need a UCA...
