Does anyone with cams get a P0300 intermittent misfire code after extended idle?

I've had cams in my car for 7 years. Every now and then I get a check engine light and it's always P0300 (intermittent misfire), especially if I let it idle too long.

Is this common?

Not uncommon. Some tuners disable the P0300 code for this reason or reduce the misfire sensitivity to help prevent it.

I get random misfire codes on my car, it comes and goes as it pleases. Sometimes it's twice in a week, sometimes it's 6 months to a year between occurrences. Never have quite figured it out..

are u sure a coil pack isnt going out?
I feel like this is somewhat likely with the age these cars are at now.

I replaced all the coils 2 years ago I think? I did get a misfire code for a specific cylinder after replacing the coils, replaced that one coil and never got that particular code then. But the P0300 will just pop up at random.

It can be the case that one of the pigtails for the coils has retreated too far up the boot leading to a misfire... however, without a specific cylinder you'd have to replace all of them. On the good side coils/plugs are cheap if you want to go that route.
