exhaust question - ( moved 2011)

axle back question. I just purchased a stainless works LT/catted x-pipe ssetup for my 2012 GT. It is a 3.73 spd car and will be for the most part a DD so I do not want real loud and I DO NOT WANT DRONE!

I love the Bassani axle back since it seems somewhat mellow over the rest of the systems. I dont like the crackel/pop sound but I hear the bassani drones.

I guess I cant have my cake and eat it too but I want to this once so I need to be 100% sure I pick the right axle back.

I see steeda sells he axle back called a steeda/Borla system. well it is a touring, S-type or ATAK? I love the sound of the S-type but again I do not want a screamer my 03 Cobra is balls loud and anymore then 45min in the car and I want to stick pokers in my ears!

Any opinions????

GT500 Axle backs sound perfect imo. And im sure it will have zero drone with the hi flow cats.

I just love the Bassani because there not stupid loud outside. I bought a SW long tube/x-pipe setup along with test pipes so I can run catless too. I want to see the power difference on the dyno. If I can run them and have no drone or very little I'm golden.
I love Borla Type-S but just to loud for a DD car.

Anyone weigh the GT500 mufflers? My stock mufflers weighed in at 42lbs.

The 2010 GT500 muffler were pretty light. Not sure on the 2011's.

Yeah, bathroom scale said the GT500s weighed about 18 lbs a piece, so 36 between the two. They are essentially the same size as the stock GT mufflers.

I'm not sure the 2011 GT500 mufflers are any different from the 2010s?

I have magnaflow street and o/r X and it doesn't drone. Get's loud when you get on it.

Thanks. The 2011's are larger diameter piping and ball flanged ends. Was hoping they were lighter than 36lbs....

I have been looking to reduce the decibel output. Tried the Flowmaster's. They helped with the sheer noise but had drone.

Think I will look at the JPC mufflers or a complete cat-back. Not a fully baked plan yet.

from what I have heard the Bassani's are nice sounding and not that loud.

with a o/r xpipe they get pretty loud above 5000rpms. and they drone a bit at 2200rpms. but i still love the sound they make

They sound great, are not too loud, but they drone between 1900-2100 rpms.

It's easy to stay out of those ranges with the 3.73's though.

Love my gt500's and just got o/r x pipe to see how they sound paired up. Should install it this week

I'm hoping for a nice sound but not overbearingly loud. I want to use my hands free and not fight the exhaust when talking.
