In shopping for the parts I need to get my rotating assembly balanced I need to get an 8 bolt flexplate for my stroker crank. There's a HUGE range of prices for the flexplates. I know you usually get what you pay for but I'm talking from about $70 - $600 range for what far as I can tell is the pretty much the same darn thing! They're all steel, SFI 29.1, 8 bolt, 164 tooth, 1 piece seal, for internal balanced 4.6. Is there any reason why the expensive ones are so much more expensive?

I'm probably just going to order one of the cheaper flexplates unless I can find a good reason why to pay the difference for the more expensive units. Which so far, I haven't been able to find anything and nobody has offered any reasons so..

PRW it is! Thanks.

I've had the Level 10 5r55s for a couple months now and absolutely love it, it kicks ass! Also have the Level 10 billet convertor, power kicks in firm but smooth, nice firm shifts, etc. The tranny comes with 1 year guarantee up to 1000hp, what more can you ask?

What did a Level 10 trans like the one you bought cost if you don't mind telling? I know Pat has some different options available and his 5R55S and lists for around $3900.00 but not sure if that is basic and 600rwhp.

They don't do the 600hp anymore, it was only like $200 less than the 1000hp so they now only do the 1000hp. The tranny & billet convertor were around $5,000 IIRC plus $150 freight. Normally the combo is $5,200 but they give a discount for doing both at the same time. But if you already have a Circle D convertor the tranny should be right around $4,000+ freight. They definitely want your core back since that was $1,000 for the tranny and $500 for the convertor!
