march 24th
No timing lights, someone starts you, top speeds gotten by cops with radar guns at top end, lots of fun. i did this last october and was running 138 mph with my 440 whp '05. really laid back. i can't make it this time due to a poorly timed wedding on my cousin's part, but wanted to pass this along.

last event a 1000 hp Nissan GTR went 175mph and a 1000+ hp TT new edge mustang ran 174. 750 hp viper ran 151.

I was going to ask about that, I heard it's never a good idea lol

also curious about the 5th gear boosting

Well, for stock internals, a 3.48 pulley and 12 lbs. of boost its certainly not a good idea to build boost in 5th gear. too much load. I would pop it Im sure. But it would be damn fun doing it!!

I run out of 4th about 10 feet after the 1/4 mark now, I can't imagine doing another 1/4 in 5th alone, unless I wanted to explode.

With 3.55's I was shifting into 5th with about 200ft left. Going so fast by then it was only a couple of seconds. I think with a little taller tire I Wouldn't of had to shift to 5th.

Thats where I want mine to run out, about 10 ft after. Right now, its about 40-50 ft before the stripe and Im hitting the limiter 6,600..

You mean you need a shorter height tire, not taller..What is the height of you tire now..Shorter height rear gives you more gear..

I am probably about even with you, I turned my limiter to 6800 to get across the line. I have settled on getting taller tires for this coming season.

no, i want a taller tire so i don't have to shift into 5th before the finish line. i already have enough traction problems as it is. i think the time it took me shifting from 4th to 5th really hurt my speed. with my 285/35-18 hankooks it hit 133 in 4th, shifted to 5th and got to 138. gps speed with my 285/40-18 Nitto's has me at 143 before it hits the rev limiter in 4th....

VTXFrank- i have a couple of friends with ::cough:: Camaros ::cough:: that are going and from the area.

Should be interesting. Especially since I'm basic bolt-ons with 3.55 gears. All I need to be able to go is a helmet and new rear tires. I was going to buy my tires later this month anyway.

the bmw 335 and 135's out there with around 370rwhp were running mid to high 120's. so thats about where i would expect your car to be as it has a little more power, about the same weight, and worse aero.
