Well, I kind of forgot to take installation pics as I was going, but anyways this is where I'm at right now.
Tomorrow morning I'm going to hook up the head unit, iPod cable, and blutooth set up. I'm kind of wishing I would of purchased the blue led upgrades for all of my buttons while it is all apart. I choked!
Anyways, I'll get up pics of the actual install tomorrow, but as for those out there who want to know more about this head unit, and various other models, I'm going to give a quick run down about this one and why I chose it.
First off I'm a huge believer in Alpine head units, and feel that they are some of the BEST overall head units on the market. Pioneer comes in at a close second compared to the Alpine head units, and other than those two brands I never really consider anything else. Though, I'm not saying that other head units are terrible, it's just that Alpine and Pioneer are completely ahead of the game when it comes to double din head units.
Navigation has played an extremely important role over the years with head units and what not, that of course is until the JVC AVX-840 came out this year. To be honest, it's really not even comparable to the Alpine W900-BT or even the Pioneer Avic-Z130BT due to the absence of a direct navigation system and software being pre-installed on the head unit itself. I was never really big on navigation due to the fact that I have an iPhone 4 and iPad to do all of my navigation, but now JVC has this neat little feature that let's you transfer the iPhone Maps that is on your phone to the head unit automatically. It's pretty sweet, and saves anywhere from $600-$1000 from getting an Alpine or Pioneer set up just to have navigation!
Now, my favorite part about the head unit is that it is clean, and when I mean clean, I mean EXTREMELY clean! It has limited buttons on the front of the head unit and only a small bit of blue led lighting on the button. I'll be sure to get more pics up of it later.
Of course, it also competes with the competition by having a bluetooth module already installed on it for wireless talking on your phone, and of course for streaming music to the head unit itself.
Now, another nice touch the head unit has is that it is fully detachable, which is a huge plus for convertible owners like myself! Then again, it would be a pain in the ass to tear into our consoles for a double din head unit, but regardless it's a nice feature to have.
Once I get it installed, I'll be sure to give a more detailed run down on everything else, as well as the quality, which is what I'm worried about the most.
