Long tube headers???

i have macs lts (mid-lengths) and i have no problems with fit or finish, and the install wasnt bad at all. I dynoed 305whp and 317wtq with these headers, an offroad mac x pipe and an intake and tune. Here is a link to my thread about the headers which has a video and a review.

now your thinking. ever wonder why Ford tested all brands of headers and went with ARH for the CJ? they couldve saved a buck but they didnt want to lose races.

No doubt because ARH gargled on Ford's balls more than the other companies.

you guys can't argue to everyone to buy Kooks headers when not everyone wants to spend all that money... Other companies headers arn't garbage, they just don't compare to the exact same level of quality and thats why the price isn't the same.

Matt +1. I didn't mean to imply that the others were garbage. But like yourself i'm a NA guy and personally I want the most power I can get from a quality product. We have plenty of guys who come to our shop and just can't swing the kooks. There are other options no doubt. But we have also pulled other lower quality headers off for poor fitment and swapped them with kooks and had customers tell us; Man I shouldn't have gone so cheap it would have saved me a lot of headaches. Not including the additional labor for fabrication to make some LT's fit. Some guys don't mine primaries on the steering shaft or leaning against the frame. JMO

I have BBK LT's in ceramic attached to a BBK O/R X. I have 0 complaints. I had to do some cutting on the header flanges to get them installed a bit easier, but i dont have a single leak. over all, i think they are good quality and look outstanding istalled.

Lol yeah that is what I am thinking but instead of changeing out my exhaust at the moment I am just going to buy the AR long tube with o/r x pipe and keep my magnaflow cat back for now... I think it will probably sound alot better anyway once I add the long tube and get rid of the catted h and shorties

I would think that you would be able to use any of the brands as long as you had a catted mid pipe

I was running slot of 114mph that day at milan which everyone says the mph on all the cars seem to be off but meh, then the last two runs I pulled the belt off and gain 2 mph lol. No I just have a steering pump by pass but when I was at milan I had to do what I had to do Thank god I dropped big cash for the E-h20 pump

well, i took a chance on some scratch and dent ceramic hooker supercomps from holley performance on ebay. i picked them up sight unseen on ebay for $260 shipped to my door. They were pretty much perfect, no fitment issues. I had a local shop install them and mate them to the existing off road x for $400. i just went to the ford dealer and bought a set of stock exhaust gaskets and used the header bolts that came with the kit...not lock bolts...didn't have any issues with non-locking bolts on the shorties that were removed either

it's one of the few mods that i can actually say i can tell that the car actuall runs better.

I had MAC headers on my 96 and never had problems with fit and finish and they compared HP wise to every other header out there. It's exhaust for christ sake. Now Pypes on the other hand is garbage. I will never by another part from them. My off road H was hideous. If the MAC's for these cars weren't mid-lengths I'd get them. Not everyone can afford $1200 headers just like not everyone can afford BMW's hence the reason I drive a Mustang...lol.

I dont think that you can run long tubes in Cali because they wont pass inspection and the cats arent in the right place....as they were from the factory i mean......but if you can get a smog guy around that you should be good.

ahh.. its sucks.. right now I'm running mac 1.75 ST with everything else stock except for the slp's.. From what most people say high flo cats sux and I'm not sure how or if long tubes and mid pipes can work or even if its worth the money if I'm going to keep the cats on. California is getting F'ed up more and more and now Obama is doing it to the whole country... looks like we all might as well get type S honda's

Even if you keep the cats it still might not pass VISUAL inspection even though it might still pass the sniffer
