First off I understand I have a 3.7 and not a 5.0. But the 3.7 section seems a bit dead.

Well over the past two weeks I started developing a 6th gear grind when my transmission was cold. it was not bad. just a quietish almost chirp if you will of a grinding noise. Well this grinding noise had gotten worse and my 5th gear also started to make grinding noises that were moderately bad.

I took my car to the dealership and had my transmission flushed, which according to ford should help things. Well it did for 5th gear, and partially for 6th gear. The only issue now is on a less frequent basis now I have a significantly louder grinding noise when I try to put my car in gear. I am also now having issues going in to 6th gear when this happens, and its not just when the tranny is cold.

Is this a sign that my 6th gear syncro is going bad? Or what could be the possible causes of my issues.

TL:DR MT82 sucks

I took my 5.0 for the same exact reason you have, only mine grinder in cold or hot and it was a little hard to put in 1st and 2nd.

The replace a lot of things 1,2 synchro and 5,6 synchro and I think some gears too. Take it back forget about fluid make sure they troubleshoot right.

And by the way my car still crunchy going into 1,2 gear. Hahah....

Take it back says the guy running a pretty extreme drag setup, with pics that support a pretty healthy hit to the trans.....

Anyway, have you replaced the shifter bushing with something stiffer, like a Steeda bracket? This and technique deal with most of the shifting issues. If the trans is a little nibbly cold but it goes away quickly that isn't likely a major issue.

I am not a fanboi, having had the MT rebuilt by Ford when it just randomly imploded a mainshaft bearing at 3500 k. Since, it's a little occasionally rattly but, has held up fine to abuse similar to what luillo is doing, over 100 times. Every once in a while, I can still get it a touch wrong and grab a little nibble, even warm but, most times, it's 2 finger shifting effort and positive engagement. Remote shifters will always have a little uncertainty about them.

Well it no longer grind's when she's cold, its just random 6th gear grinding. Oddly enough though, since the grinding started my tranny has felt much smoother over all.

I recommend upgrading the clutch line. That helped a lot with mine. I've been where you are though, ford replaced my fluid, didn't help. Then they replaced all of the synchros, didn't help. Then they replaced the whole trans and the new one is amazing.

Random 6th gear grinding? That's a technique thing or a shifter bracket thing. Consistent grinding very well could be a synchro wear issue. That's the real deal, folks

When it grinds I have the clutch all the way in. And as for consistency its at least once every time I drive the car. Could it be the synchro starting to go out?
Honestly I know very little about the workings of a transmission.

Regardless of how much I raced or not, my car started doing the 5 and 6 grinding just like u are describing it and it happened way after I stop racing.

Regardless of the racing I did they found a lot of broken cynchros and they said these transmissions are suffering more in 5,6 than 1,2. Words of the technician.

Take it in and let them check it, it won't hurt to see if they find anything wrong.

Yea My car is currently in the shop for the brake and clutch pedal housing, and while it was there I asked them to look at the 5/6th gear issues.

With this ice storm I think I am going to be without my mustang for a while...

Well I have an update, I got my car back from the shop. They worked on the TSB, and they also looked at my 6th gear grinding issue. The techs reported that they could not recreate the issue. and since I have gotten my car back the issue has gotten much worse. it went from once or twice a day to almost everytime I put it in to 6th gear. I will be taking it back to ford again, and if they still cant do anything about it, I guess I'll bitch about it on AFM and get the ford rep to escalate it.

I don't get that deal about that they can't get to recreate the issue. If you go with the tech and you are driving the car and you say it is happening all the time they should be able to see what is the problem while you drive and show them.

That is what I did. I drove off the dealer with the tech and as soon as I got in the highway I put 5 and grind, the I try 6 and grind. The tech wanted to drive and had the same problem. Make sure you demonstrate what and how is happening. Maybe it happens in the way you drive but not how the tech drives it.

If not then sure bitch a lot, eventually they will have to do something. HAHAHAHA. Good luck man.

When Mazda was giving me the runaround about a bad transmission I ended up video recording the issue so they couldn't deny it was occurring
You might want to try that approach.
