Real world MPG with the 5.0

What are you guys seeing for average fuel economy with the 5.0?

I'm around 16.0. Majority of the miles are sitting in traffic or hammering on it, not a lot of Highway driving these days.

My average in the information center is 18.4 after 5000mi with 3.73s. I'm sure cruising I get around 21.

i basically drive only the city so im seeing 12-14mpg. When i drive on interstates i get at least 23mpg though. I wonder how it will change now with the blower

All of the following numbers are hand-calculated, burning 87 octane 90/10 gas/ethanol blend except as noted:

18.8 mpg was the best tankful, about 50/50 city/highway
14.8 mpg was the worst tankful; oddly this was my one fill-up with 100% gasoline
16.6 mpg overall since taking delivery (now at ~2000 miles)

3.73's get about 15 when I drive aggressively. 21 when I drive by changing gears by 3k rpm and actually using 6th.

I see many of you are modified and still posting some decent mileage.

Keeping the car stock and driving moderately with a mix of city/hwy, it seems like 18-20 is a pretty good expectation.

In contrast, I am driving a 4 cyl Malibu right now that is getting about 25-26 in a city/hwy mix, which is dissapointing for a 4 cyl. The problem is the car is relatively heavy, and a 170hp engine means you are in the throttle hard and often to move with traffic...resulting in an effect on mpg. On the hwy where the 4cyl can buzz along under light throttle is where it is in it's element.

My point is that under most driving conditions, it looks like I will pay a 6-7 mpg penalty for driving a Mustang......so if I drive 200 miles per week, that's an extra 3 gallons or so. Not a huge deal I suppose.

i average 19 to 20 in town and i can get 28 on the highway if i set the cruise at 60 and don't hit too many hills. Overall i am happy. Oh yea I did gain about 1 mpg on the highway when I went to the stainless works retro chamber catback and K&N drop in filter.
