I have never done a long road trip (but I REALLY want to). I have seen guys go crazy with the painter's tape, and while I see the benfit, it looks so stupid. I would just bring enough Meguire's quick detailer and A LOT of microfiber cloths. That and some junk foods, LOL!

When I drove mine to Mustang week, I purchased a bra as well as used painters tape underneath it and on all the areas that show. I also covered the side mirrors, front part of the side skirts and from windshield siding. Worked out great. When i got there I did a full on detail.

Have you ever looked at the 3m clear bra kit? I have this on every part of my car that can be damaged by rocks and other crap flying around. It protects my vehicle really well and the best thing is, it's clear! Just a thought :)

After a long road trip I would probably just pay somebody to do it. If I had the means to do so ;)

I don't think you will have to much to worry about as long as the weather is clear. Usual detail stuff as others have mentioned should get you through.

Bring tons of towels, terry cloth and micro fiber and sun block. Bug and tar remover for the wheels and tire shine. A cooler full of drinks and a lot of snacks.

^^^That's what I do. I use the Ultimate Quick detailer spray, and redress the tires after I am all done. A hat is a good idea as well :hi:

Not sure right now. I was planning on going but I might be going to pismo with my cousin. He lives down in san diego and I rarely get to see him. Just waiting to see if he can make it. If not i'm going for sure.

I just booked my room through Monday too.
I plan on having a pro detail by the way. There's gonna be way too much other fun stuff to do I think than have to worry about detailing my ride after that hellacious cruise.

#1 get Ultimate Quick wax instead of just the QD

#2 Lots and lots of MF towels

#3 Plexus for removing bugs and cleaning wheels

#4 little bottle of a light polish in case you need it

#5 little bottle of whatever wax or sealant you use in case you have to use #4

#6 window cleaner like Stoner's that won't get all over the paint when you spray it. (none of the foamy stuff, basically)

#7 Lint roller for carpet if you don't have time to vac first. But put down similar colored towels to protect it on the trip.

#8 a duffel bag to keep all your stuff in so it's not all over the place at the show

#9 Bags to throw your dirty MFs in so they don't get damaged

#10 Beer

#11 Money for hookers

#12 Old rags to use on the engine compartment

#13 canned air to blow out dust from hard to get areas

The plexus works great for shows. I've sold a lot of people on that stuff at shows. Use it first to get any bugs etc off the bumper, then the Quick wax and it's golden.
