If work allows I'd like a second car to screw around with; nothing insane. The Bullitt is sharp looking with a starting hp level to keep you out of trouble. There are only 7 on cars.com and the closest one to me upon further inspection the guy went pretty hard on; supercharger, six-speed conversion, etc. It doesn't mention whether the internals are beefed for the blower but the windage tray makes me wonder. Otherwise I assume the engine is on borrowed time. $33k

Not that I have the self-control for a GT500 but there is one with 55k miles on it for $35k across the state which seems like a great deal plus of course the hand-built 4v can take the power.

I couldn't imagine anyone not taking the GT500 for pretty much the same money but I figure it's worth some conversation. TIA.

+1 for the GT500 at same pricing hands down.............unless 1 just HAS to have the Bullitt..........for other reasons than price.

Once you drive positive displacement supercharged, you'll never go back.
That bullitt comes with a FRPP PD blower, and a ton of other mods. But the GT-500 is already forged. For the same price, the GT-500 would be bomb proof..... and if he wanted to modify the GT-500, there are a lot of bigger / better blower options that are drop in ready. The GT-500 engine and TR-6060 manual tranny (rated for 600 ft lbs of tq) are essentially where you want to be for an eng / tranny combo that is built to last. The rest of the GT-500 can have the various suspension / DS upgrades / wheels / tires upgraded at a later date.

The Bullitt is basically just a GT with some OE appearance mods. Any collectability value went out the window when the blower went on and an otherwise identical GT might be worth half of that $33k asking price. They did have 15 extra HP and 3.73s over a base GT which are nice if you're keeping it stock. Both pretty much meaningless with that blower though.
I think you might be overestimating how fast a stock early GT500 is as well. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hand the keys to a teenager but with good tires and any sense of self preservation, they're far from uncontrollable monsters.

I am 8 miles away from the Bullitt in Lake Mary. And I had a modified 2009 Bullitt, supercharged and 6 speed conversion. Unfortunately I ran out of talent and totaled it in 2014. But I would be happy to look at the Bullitt for you and give you my findings. My Bullitt was the easiest car to work on that I have ever owned. I changed out the engine, transmission and front K member all by myself. I had $70K in that car before I wrecked it, and that was with me doing all the labor myself.

Heck, I might be interested in the Bullitt myself. Was my favorite car of all time. I bought a 2014 GT Cali Special after, only drove it 20K miles in 6 years and traded it for my current pickup truck. The 3v was a crappy foundation compared to the 5.0 but I got 643hp out of mine. I could smoke the tires from 50mph.
Edit: I did a quick search, Blue Book for a 2008 with 27K miles is $17-18K. Add in the blower for another $10K+ (I am good friends with Justin Starkey of VMP) and other mods, it isn't an unreasonable starting point for a clean vehicle with zero issues. I would definitely be interested in the $27k range.

Not to long ago I saw a Bullitt going for 29K with similar low mileage at a dealership unmodified. Pretty sure most Bullitt owners like to keep them pretty stock to hold value, not they hold it all that well but better than a standard GT. The Shelby has more miles but will hold value a lot better and as far as the motors between the two it all depends on the previous driver or drivers. I would lean to the Shelby unless you got a hankering for the Highland Green , it looks pretty clean on the underside with lots of mods but the Shelby looks like it is pretty much almost all original IMO.

Go for the Shelby... make it yours, the Bullitt already been modified and by who knows???

Or just get a low mileage GT California Special for under 20K and build away.... saw one recently with 19K miles selling for $19K all original.

If I buy another Bullitt it will be green, not black. I refuse to buy a black Mustang and be just like all the other black Mustangs.
I Have a 2010 Black mustang. They look good when polished to a mirror finish....which lasts all of a few days.
Very few Bullitts were made in Black. If you wanted a bullitt, get a green one.

The bullitt will be more nimble that the GT500, however the GT500 has a lot more potential in terms of limits, than the Bullitt. No stock bottom end 3V will ever make, before blowing up, anywhere close to what stock condor is able to handle. I like the 3V, I have 3 of them, but I’d say get the Shelby. You can do a blower swap and supporting mods. And even by today’s potential standards, you’ll have a very good respectable car in terms of power figures.

Here's a Roush for $33K and only 24K miles in excellent condition manual transmission. Could probably talk them down.

Wow. I’m genuinely impressed. That’s the 4th Roush I’ve seen with the rear window louver. In terms of, if it was a optioned with it from Roush.
