why dont 99-04 wheels fit?

just like the title asks...why dont the 99-04 wheels fit s197s?

Err...

They do fit. They have the same lug pattern 5 lug 112 mm. The reason they don't "fit" is because the offset is 24mm for the new edge and 45mm for the S197.

They will stick out too far and the tire tread will rub the fender lip, especially on the rear.

They fit - sort of. The backspacing is off, but I borrowed a buddy's 17x10's with M/Ts and they worked just fine for me. They really didn't stick out that much really. For the track, you could use them if you don't go crazy with tire height.
