Hello,

first of my English is not perfect so if I mispronounced something wrong. I’m sorry.
So to the question. Do I need the 6-piston brembos from the 2022 gt500 with 16.5“ rotors? Heck no. But does it really matter? Also no.

So the plan is to go with the s550 6-piston brembos and just throw those on with the 13-14 gt500 15“ rotors and call it a day.

Now I found clean calipers from the 2022 gt500. And it just tickles me to find out how hard it would be to put those on my 2006 boosted 3v.

As far as I found out there is not really somebody that did this(I couldn’t find one) maybe I’m just bad at researching‍.

So there is somebody who put those on his 350r. And I found a conversion kit for the s550 to put the 350r calipers with a 15.5“ rotor on it.

Now how does the 350r differ from the gt500?
I could go with the 350r calipers and put those on since there are adapters for the calipers. Right? Since the s550 calipers fits directly on the 3v. Or would there be no room for the 15.5“ rotor? Just asking myself. I don’t want the 350r but the gt500. But If it fits, since the rotors fit the s550 I could use washers to center the rotors. Could this work with the gt500s too?

Now does anybody know a conversion kit or maybe has some ideas what I could possible do without the need to cnc mil my own parts. Because that would be too much work for me since I live in Germany and everything has to be written down in the vehicle papers. They like to impound the cars of tuners a little too much.

So does anybody know if I could use more parts of the gt500 to make it all fit?

I guess a bigger reservoir and a bigger master cylinder are „recommended“

Not needed for the s550 but I don’t know about the gt500 monster calipers.

i would love some smart answer. I don’t need nobody telling me it’s not worth it. We have people putting 100K engines into civics.

I really hope I wrote it all out. And in a understandable way. Thanks upfront for any helpful words!!!

How big of a wheel would you need to fit over 15.5” rotors? Might be tight with 19” wheels. Maybe stick to GT500 brakes. Anything more might be going overboard. I don’t think washers are needed for the 6 piston calipers, at least not that I’ve read. Just need them for the 4 piston S550 calipers.

I would need washers if I want to use the 15“ rotors of the s550. If I swap the 6-Pisten brembos of the s550.
But I can go around that if I take the gt500 rotors of the 2013-2014 gt500. I already have 20“ wheels.
The 15.5“ rotors are used with the 6-Pisten brembos of the gt350r.

Thank you i found the brackets on the website. But I can only find brackets for a gt350r brake swap. Do the gt500s calipers fit on those brackets too?
When I do this swap, I use the 6 pots from the s550 track pack cars. They bolt on with no adapters and utilize the 13/14 Gt500 rotors.
I would email Full Tilt to be sure

Yes that’s how wanted it to do initially. Now I am curious how hard it would be to use the 6 piston calipers of the gt500 2022 with the 16.5 inch rotors.

there is a conversion kit for the 2019 gt350r 6 pots with 15.5 inch rotors. But no gt500 kind of conversion.

After a while maintenance parts cost and weight start to offer diminishing returns without things like the corresponding increase in master cylinder bore and balancing the rear brake bias to match. It would look cool af though.
We've been road coursing the 15" 6 piston combo for a couple of years, I also put it on a lot of street cars. My 2-piece 15r" rotors were almost a grand, I can imagine the 16." stuff is $$$$

Rotors from the S550 don’t work on S197. The hats/hubs are different.

People say they do work. You have to center them with washers. So that the caliper grips it evenly.
I mean they have the same bolt pattern. 5x114.3 (5x4.5“).

No, you have to center the S550 Continental calipers with washers to a S197 rotor. Not the rotor.

You don't HAVE to center the caliper, it's a 1mm offset. The rotor thickness difference is 2mm, it is a non-issue.
Fult Tilt Boogie Racing has 34mm rotors for this swap if it really bothers you. I personally just run a stainless 1mm shim between the caliper and the steering knuckle.
There is no need to use s550 rotors with the 4 or 6 piston swap

Alright. Forget the s550. Hahaha. I wrote down what I wanted to do. Now what about the 2020-2022 gt500 Brembo calipers with the 16.5 inch rotors. Any suggestions? Or technicians than knows what to use for a swap??
