Wideband o2 sensor problem

So after driving in the snow today I'm throwing codes p0059 and p0135. One code is on bank one sensor 1 and the other is on bank 2 sensor 1. I have long tubes and they are very close to the ground. I don't see any wires loose so I'm ruling that out. I've cleared the codes and they do come back. Do you all think I should wait for it to dry out a bit and see what happens or just go ahead and replace them both? They both have recently been replaced after getting some bad gas and having issues from that. Both codes came at same time.

If you added an extension on the O2 sensor cable, I would free up the oem cable and eliminate the extension which has been known to throw the codes.

What are those 2 codes?

Did you angle 02 bungs so the sensors point downward?

Both codes are for the heaters. I haven't angled them yet

Wonder if they are just too cold for the first few min, or maybe a little condensation turned into ice on them.

Lol I'm tired of buying o2 sensors. I did check all the connections today everything looks good and dry.

Seems to be a common trend amongst longtube owners. You're likely going to need to cut and angle the 02 bungs at a 15-20* angle so gravity takes care of the condensation.

Here is what happens when the element fractures:

The solution? Relocate the o2 sensors and/or find a way for the trapped condensation to drain.

Good info man! I wonder are the oxygen sensors still functioning without the heater element once the car has warmed up?

No. You will see in the logs that either the sensor is reading 0 or is stuck at a number like 2.97. The car will generally run and idle rough.

Once the sensor is gone the only solution is to replace it.

My experience with SP/SW longtubes (and 13 F-150 with stock exhaust) is clamp tightness can play a large part in condensation. This is with e10 use.

I lost a primary soon after install. I replaced both, and further tightened the clamps from the collector to the ota's. No issues since.

My F-150 had a couple of cold exhaust leaks (clamps) when new, and water seepage was clearly visible from those joints on days where there was a decent drop in temperature.

While the angle probably plays the largest role, its something to look at while you're under there.

I have never had an issue with my o2 sensors on my car with longtubes and I have not relocated them. However I did have an issue once from running over a huge turtle, it broke the o2 sensor right off the headers. I think part of the reason mine have been fine is because I live in Florida and we have warmer weather and I park my car in the garage over night so there is a very slim chance for condensation to be created. The best solution I have seen is relocating the o2 sensor to point downwards on the collector. Good luck!

RIP turtle..

wait, is that a metaphor?? lol

Lol. This was a little while ago, the turtle guts are baked on my x pipe and doesn't come off. All I know there was a truck in front of me and he went over the turtle without touching it and then it was too late for me to stop and BAM, I look back and I see turtle guts everywhere! really nasty. Car immediately started to run like crap.
