Alright you experts. Here's the deal.

The last three months, I've had some difficult health issues. My garage is full of shit from us clearing out a storage unit my daughter had for all her college furniture and shit. I've not felt well enough to get it moved into our storage unit until recently. So Ruby has been sitting in the driveway for the last two months.

My Ruby now has water spots all over it from our lawn sprinklers. Then, baked in by the Florida sun. To top that off, my wife took it through the local car wash three different times to get bird shit off of it and now, there are swirls everywhere as well.

Now, I'm feeling better since my neurologist figured out that my BiPap machine wasn't working properly. Got a new one last week and what a difference! He also figured out that I've been having micro-seizures during my sleep. So now I'm on Lamicta to control that. I feel much better now, so it's time to get on it and get Ruby cleaned up.

I have a G110v2 I use. I am asking someone to link me to products and pads to use to get this taken care of. I want quality stuff, but nothing exotic. I know there's a massive detailing thread but, to be quite honest with you all, it's a little difficult for me to cull the info from something like that right now. Until this mental fogginess clears up more, I need some personalized help.

I would greatly appreciate some help!

I can finesse a minimally marred surface back to a lusterous sheen but when it comes to working through pitted or etched clearcoat, Seer and the other guys will have to instruct because what I would do with my own cars and motorcycles may not be what I should suggest for others as I'm no pro, HOWEVER, I do want to express a heart felt concern regarding your previous health issues and I'm glad to hear you're back on track to a state of well-being!

You know how I feel about your car so lets get Ruby back up to snuff!!!!!:highfive:

Clay bar:
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=856&idcategory=0

Clay bar lube:
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=205&idcategory=0

First, buy this backing plate if you do not already have it:

http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=961&idcategory=282

This will allow you to run smaller foam pads, like the 5.5". I find you have more control and get a better correction with those, if not, the smallest you can run is the 6.5". You can buy the Meguiars specific surebuff pads but they tend to run more expensive and do the exact same thing as the following:

You'll need 2-3 of these polishing
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=602&idcategory=234

2-3 of these light cutting
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=603&idcategory=234

2-3 of these finishing/applicator pads
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=601&idcategory=234

Few of the snappy pad cleaners, just dump it into a 3-5 gal bucket (not one you use to wash the cars with), let your pads soak in it for a few hours and agitate them clean
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=150&idcategory=234

Meguiars #105 Compound (8oz)
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=512&idcategory=0

Meguiars #205 Finishing Polish (8oz)
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=514&idcategory=0

Basically use the #105 with an orange pad to compound and cut some of the swirls and water marks off of your vehicle.

Go back over it with the cyan pad and #205, and if you really want to jewel up the paint go over it again a third time with #205 and the red pad. If not, use the red pad to just apply liquid waxes/sealants with.

My recommendation for protecting that Race Red finish is as follows:

Chemical Guys Black Light, hybrid glaze/sealant. Will fill minor imperfections and offer protection
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=333&idcategory=0

Chemical Guys Lava Wax
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=841&idcategory=0

Chemical Guys V07 Spray Sealant/Detailer
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=331&idcategory=0

Process:
Once your finish is where you want it, apply Black Light with a red pad on speed 1. Remove it, apply a second coat.

Wait a day, Apply two coats of Lava, then spray V07.

Re-apply V07 after washes.

If you need specs on wash supplies etc, let me know, but you should be using two 5 gal buckets with grit guards to wash with and a ph neutral soap. I usually recommend maxi suds II.

Citrus Wash from CG is also very good but if mixed wrong can strip your surface of wax. It's great for starting over again though.

use coupon code: scsmember for 10% off...you'll also get free shipping. Tell him Seer sent you :D

Nice package Seer. Don't let the oils fool you when using the M105/M205. I also am loving the BL/Lava/V7 combo. Shows great results.

Ya, I typically use menzerna, but megs is a cheaper solution.

Dude, you are THE MAN! I have some pads now, and the 6.5" backing plate. I'll try to get a 5.5" backing plate though. I'm sure I'll have some questions for you before I start buying stuff.

I just want to thank you SO much for your detailed help and all the links! I know your time is valuable, so I appreciate the time you've spent on this awesome advice!

I by no means am an expert but just yesterday I tried out my new PC 7424xp on my GFs 9 year old Honda which has never seen a garage. I used mcguiers swirl remover 2.0 with an orange pad. Simply amazing results. All the haze, water spots etc were removed. Added some NXT tech wax and man what a difference. Car looks 100% better. The pc 7424 is the bomb.
Good luck Tom and I hope your feeling better everyday.

He's helped me a lot with stuff like this. That being said, I just want to add CG citrus wash is the shit! just like said, just make sure it's diluted correctly. . I love that stuff. I used to clean the mold off the gutters of my house. I mixed it pretty strong and BAM! lol

Being a novice user of power tools on the cars paint, I opted for the safe one. But I have read very good things about the flex.

I bought the 3m scratch/swirl/wax buffing kit and I'll just say don't waste your money.

Thanks for the links seer!

They're both DA's, just the Flex has a forced rotation and a good bit more power. Both are rather safe.

Alright, I just spent $160 with them. However, I ordered online and there wasn't a place to give you props, Seer. I do plan on contacting them through their email once I get an order confirmation.

I have a bottle of Meguairs Ultimate Compound. I also have a can of Liquid Glass Polish. Could I use either of those at some point in the future when I run out of the stuff I just ordered?

I didn't get the Lava Wax, a bit too pricy for right now. I do have NXT 2.0 Paste wax and liquid wax. What's a decent, yet not too pricy wax?

Thanks a LOT for all of your advice Seer. I really do appreciate it man!

I believe Seer mentioned that Liquid Glass was never a really good product in the first place...Not sure on the cut of the ultimate compound but you can check that on the compound chart thats stickied. Meguiars #26 yellow caranuba wax is good for the price and will hold you over.

Nxt is one of the better store bought products. Has tons of fillers in it. Put the liquid glass in the garbage.

Ya lava is a little pricey but to be honest I am wondering why cg priced it so low for what it is.
