Well guys. More bad news for me (and I'm guessing the rest of the impacted owners). The problem is back and worse then ever. The CEL stayed on for 40 minutes of driving and the car misfired all the way to the dealer.

I called Ford and opened a ticket to start the buy-back process. This makes 5 attempts for them to fix the car. 6400 miles of random intermittent misfire is bad for the engine. Valves, pistons, rings, cats, etc all get damaged due to misfire. Even if they fix the issue this time, they are going to be hard pressed to convince me there is no long-term damage. I truely believe my engine will not last as long as an engine that has not experienced this problem and for so long. I want another Mustang.

Who wants to take bets on if this will turn into a "My lawyer is bigger than your lawyer" pissing contest? I'd be willing to guess the odds of this going smoothly are not in my favor.

Just dropped mine off at the dealership this afternoon, my problem isnt near as bad as yours but it's still bad. check wioth the BBB in your state, they are very good at negotiating in these situations.

That's sickening ... especially when they probably could have fixed it the first time with a new ECU. Good luck with the buy back process, hopefully you end up with an upgrade.

the Dealer found 36 misfires on cylinder 1 in my car, they couldnt duplicate the problem so the tech moved the coil pack to cylinder 3 and the spark plug to cylinder 2 and i took the car home. within 1/4 mile of leaving the dealer i had the light flashing again. took right back to dealer and tech scanned it. we now know it isnt a coil pack or plug. they are going to call the hotline again monday and see what to do. it's not the techs fault, it's on fords end.

problem occurs when car is cold or near cold and engine is in the 3000-4000 rpm range with light thottle

my CEL is not on while the car is on but in the assc. key position the cel light blinks a few times and then stays solid...from previous cars, ive known this as a pending fault code...does this mean my car has issues that could pertain to this?

Same here.

Ford is flying someone from the engineering team to my dealer this coming week to work on my car in person with the dealer techs.

I'm kinda pissed because I started a ticket to get the buy-back thing going and no one is returning my calls.

It's got a bad ECU. See this on Mazda from time to time.

There is usually no ping, it misfires on several or all cylinders (depends on the occurrence) and the AFR goes to 20:1. All this leads me to believe there is a loss of fuel on all cylinders. Not a tuning problem unless the tune or ECU/PCM ans commanding the absence of fuel for some reason.

I would like to see what the fuel pressure is when this problem occurs.

Sounds like normal operation for the Mustang to me. On my other Mustang... the CEL flashes a few time than stays lit until the engine is started. That car is running fine.

you dont have to let them attempt anymore repairs. the BBB will assist you in getting them to buy the car back. Ford has an agreement where they will abide by what the arbitrator decides.

The Lemon Laws, as well as the precedence and the impact of BBB involvement, varies greatly by state.

Ford sent somebody out from the engineering team to check out my problem, he came up with a crank position senser that has some "witness Marks" on it. they thiunk the sensor makes contact with the crank and is causing this issue. I am not sure i buy it and here is why.

1) only happens when engine is cold
2) only happens between 3-4K rpm and only light throttle
3) why not when fully warmed up and at 6500 rpm?

I can run the piss out of the motor when warmed up with no issues. can a crank sensor issue be rpm and temp specific?

I got the same BS story today too. They said the new tune wasn't installed correctly (second time they used that excuse) and the CPS needed to be replaced. Oh, and that 30 minutes of work is gonna take another 2 days to do btw.

I get the feeling the CPS didnt solve the problem, I was supposed to get my car back today but didnt, I saw the tech out on a test drive and then pulled over to the side of the road. I bet he got the flashing light again..

Yea, I was supposed to get mine back today too. Not even a phone call.

Is it just me or are you starting to see a pattern of bullshit with these guys?

After calling Ford 6 times in 10 days and complaining that I want them to replace my car, they finally called me today. The CSR told me he would start the process and there is a wait of 7-10 days before they notify me of their decision. Got a funny feeling I'm not gonna like the next communication I have with them.
