well that didnt take long, the mustang ecoboost

quoted from source and OP
Ok, so here is what happened. The guy working next to me pulled this 2015 4cyl Eco Boost mustang in with a giant trail of oil spewing out behind him. The vehicle has 300 miles on it. We work for a ford dealership and can use our IDS to determine what exactly was happening at the time of the failure. The vehicle was traveling at 41mph at 2100 RPM when the failure occurred. This is the pan and he just pulled it in to take a quick look. From what I gather it threw a rod and took a chunk out with it. The new 4cyl Mustangs while looking good on paper are complete POS Turds with no balls and can barely get out of their own way. All of the new Ford 4cyl Eco Boost motors are garbage, Especially the 1.6 and the 2.0.
Hyperbole much?

Sucks that it blew, but the question should be what was done to the car before that 41mph failure?

dunno about the #8 warranty, but they got that black box, it remebers everything, if it says "Bp fuels reccommended" or anything like that inside the fuel door you know what you gotta do.

Well, while concerns about not besting the 1LE at Streets of Willow was concerning, the difference between the new M4 and the GTPP was much, much, much less depressing. New M4 ran Streets in 1:23.73 to our 1:24.32.

Wheels and Tires on the M4:
Front 18x9 w/ 255/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Rear 18x10 w/ 275/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Wheels and Tires on the GTPP:
Front 19x9 w/ 255/40/19 Pirelli P-Zeroes
Rear 19x9.5 w/ 275/40/19 Pirelli P-Zeroes

Looking at same tire widths, different overall tire heights (front and rear are different for both cars, dafuq Ford?) but vastly different compounds.

Given the nearly 150lb weight difference and $20,000 price difference I wouldn't say we are doing too bad. Especially given how AWFUL the P-Zero is for a tire. They should really rename them to P-ZeroGrip! :) I sure as heck wouldn't call the P-Zero comparable to the Pilot Super Sports...

I wish they would run the same brand/model tire and brake pads when doing head to head comparisons.

Ran the OEM PZEROS on my 2011 at Hallett and they get greasy after a few laps. Swapped them for the Super Sports and never looked back. I wished people would stop comparing lap times without adjusting for variables such as tires.

This. Without doing that, it is a useless comparison of chassis design and vehicle performance.

I love the Super Sports. I'm back on my stock(Saleen) 275 Pzeros and it feels like I'm driving on ice.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this thinking. The Mustang is hamstrung in all these comparison tests since Ford insists on keeping those POS P-Zeroes on the car. I'll bet most of that half second deficit evaporates if the GTPP were on the same tires. Same goes for the '14 1LE vs '12 Boss comparison. Throw the Mustang on the same 60 treadwear race tires and it would be a different race.

I can't remember any OEM tire on any of my Fords that was worth a damn. Every time I changed it was an improvement (even the craptastic Kumhos were better than OEM).

Precisely. Ford also under tires them size wise. I mean seriously.....a 285 for a 540 HP car? Speaking of my previous Mustang, 2010 GT500. Hell, I upgraded to 275 on my 5.0 and it's STILL not enough.

I can't understand for the life of me why the PP didn't just come with 10" rims all around.

Based on having worked for an OEM at one point and an interview I saw with Hameedi about the '13 GT500 when it came out, the reason for the narrower than needed tires for actual performance is the negative steering characteristics (I.e. Pull in grooves). Hameedi said they didn't put larger tires on the GT500 because, after trying that, they didn't think the average buyer who doesn't track their car would want to deal with the steering characteristics.

Here's the thing, the Brembo and Track Pack Mustangs sold very well and you know what most owners did with the factory summer tires? Replaced them. I don't recall people having some big up-roar about having to do it either. I Figure most people sucked it up as they accepted they bought the performance version.
