Speak of the devil....just went outside and noticed a package on the door step. Guess I didn't hear them knock. Mutha Thumprs have arrived.

the real question is, what are they like in rush hour traffic? thats what i need to know
i think theyre fine. people have to understand that when certain modifications are made things WILL change.

that said...i sit in gate traffic almost every morning going to work...sometimes there is a slight dip in the rpms when i move forward but thats usually because i dont slip the clutch enough. I have no problems with these cams in a daily driver. If someone wants 100% stock driveabilty then my suggestion is to keep your stock cams.

For me with my auto and these cams stop and go traffic is no problem at all. Except when I have to do a lot of coasting at around 20 mph and the O/D light starts to flash. :chainsaw:

I got stuck in stop and go traffic on the way home. Other than the rough idle, the car performed as well as it did when it had the stock cams in it. I tried to duplicate some of the complaints that I have read about with these cams in traffic. I wasn't able to do it. The car just runs really good in every condition I could put it through today. You can lug it down to 1000 RPM's and it pulls away without any hesitation or flat spots.

The tuner did not email me the dyno sheets, I will have to post them tomorrow.

I guess my next mod should be a driveshaft, I'm starting to run out of bolt ons.

Cool! Those sound BA. I look forward to some videos. :thumb:

Most definitely! There will also be a dyno thread for these as well. Glad to see some people doing simple real world one part dyno tests. Curious what the Thumprs will do for me. After that will be the under drive pullies and then long tubes. With dyno pulls in between of course.

excellent thread.
i was beginning to wonder about the Hot Rod cams that i have in my car with some of the stuff ive read on here....so myself and Brn N Rbr went to have my car dyno'ed this past Monday just to see exactly where my car is at....when the car was tuned after the header and Hot Rod cam install the car saw 311 rwhp and 304 tq. However the weather that day was horrible.

So we wanted a 2nd opinion....and my results are in my sig....324 rwhp and 317 tq. We even did a comparison shot of my dyno run vs his and while the numbers are almost identical down low (no drop off in low end with the cams), ~ 4,800k my car clearly pulls at the top of the tach, where his starts to flatline and then eventually lose hp.

Do you have CMDPs as well? Those are great numbers

I made similair #'s with HotRod's on a Mustang Dyno with a few different bolt ons, my Dyno sheet is attached. 302 hp /299 tq with FRPP cams, Delete plates and a Steeda CAI, i dont have a basline pull but it def made gains, the Redline was bumped up 400 rpm to 6,4000 RPM and peak power is made at redline!!! the power characteristics of the car changed noticably, it really like to be wound up now and loves to be in the higher register of the tach. The idle is simply fantastic!

Im one of those guys who doesnt like the cams for bumper to bumper traffic, car tends to buck when rolling in 1st at or below 1,000 RPM. Otherwise im very happy with the cams.

Our mustangs have more max torque then hp. When we do cams the hp is increased and torque is reduced. Is that a big deal? I haven't installed my Hot rod's yet.

I drive in stop and go traffic in and around the Washington DC area every day and have zero issues with the Hot Rod cams - its all in the tune. No bucking, hesitation, etc.

It's a Pain in the nutsack... I have learn to aviod traffic like aids...
Hi, I'm fairly new to this forum but I had the Comp Mutha thumpers put in my 2007 GT/CS about 9 months ago. The installer was up front and honest about the change in driveability he said the car would have (ie tends to buck a little at lower rpm's and in slow traffic driving) but I feel it was a small tradeoff to get that killer lopey idle that makes people look at the car as i idle through a parking lot. You can almost hear them say "That car's not supposed to sound like that" Although I thought that it should have made more power (305rwhp/308trq) it was still worth it, and from what iv'e been reading apparently i'm making about what everyone else is with basically the same bolt ons. I'm happy!
