But wait, I would like to suggest a class that I can be competitive in as well. Does anyone want to hear about it?

The fastest cars get the 500 quid, end of story. If you are driving over 4 hours with a car in tow and you think that you are going to make or break even on this deal, you need to rethink the way you calculate a budget. This is not a money making event, it is an event where the fastest cars in each class get a reward. If you guys split into another class, is Matt just going to run by himself? Can't anyone go out and just have fun?

Also, street legal cars are those that have an inspection sticker. Just because you have an inspection sticker, does not mean that you couldn't remove certain things (converters) before a race. In my opinion, an inspection sticker, registration and current insurance card, determine the "street" status.

yes

still a year away... Lets just meet at a bar the night before,
and all in attendance 'make' subclasses that represent the
people that are actually present and competing.

Untill then; the 3 suggested 'general' classes that Spaz came up with are just fine.

I guess with the bracket race available, I wasn't concerned. I also know, as you guys do, if you are not one of the fastest in any class, you will never win in a "shootout." I guess what I'm getting at is that I did see this as a big party (at a track) and I was never interested in being competitive, I was more interested in meeting everyone on the forum.

, but at the end you need to get a REAL car count to make it work,

This is the exact reason why we can not have 10 different classes---because there will only be 80 cars or so showing up to begin with.

If your worried about mod for mod--then the bracket race is for you. Or the callout lane if you want to race someone that mod for mod is the same as you. The other classes have no other purpose other then to find out who is the fastest. It will also be a ranking of sorts---if you qualify 7th, then the idea is you can say you had the 7th fastest N/A car that day.

Lastly, the carrot is only a guess at this point, we have several months to secure more sponsors / prize money.

We really are trying to have a lot of fun, as a club, while we do some racing. The concept behind adding a bracket class is to give people who feel they won't be competitive in a heads-up class a chance to be competitive.

I know I personally are no where near the fastest NA car, but it would be fun to see where I am in the pecking order when the playing field is level.

So, any more feedback on the rules? We have seen a couple suggestions...

By the way, I am open to adjustments of the class rules. Anyone want to add anything to the rules? I kind of wanted to stay away from the street car thing because if you ask 10 people what is a street car, you will get 10 different answers. The inspection sticker--some states do not do this (like CA). Not sure what to do about this--open to suggestions.

I guess what I am asking is what makes a car an outlaw vs the power adder class? Right now I have if you use anything other then the factory computer, chances are you are an all out race car. Different motor, (non modular) same thing, multiple power adders, but what else? Take Turbo Pete's car for example, turbo and nitrous but he drives it everywhere---is this an outlaw car? For now yes, as he has two power adders. He could run just the turbo and run in the power adder class.

What do you guys think? My main concern is to have the rules be inclusive--so we have the most participation.

So that being said , will the street class be required to have cats ( not hollowed out ones) on the car ?

Reason I ask is there are a lot of street leagal cars out there that are inspected and registered with insurance that are not really street legal .

What defines street legal ?

I am like the rest and will be going just to have fun , but there is always "that guy" .

This is what we need. Do we define "street legal"? What are some of the recommendation? We already have some ideas, but what do you guys think?

No intrusion... please don't feel that way. You are a welcome member of the club. All opinions are welcome.

Feel free to stay in the discussion, if you can deal with the fact that this may not cater to just you or anyone else specifically. I have an opinion and I am just throwing it out and I also understand exactly why we can't have a plethora of classes.

Paul said it, no dual adders, state inspection and insurance.

Yea, but there are some low 12, high 11 sec cars that are not street driven and would be no contest in an outlaw class.

Nice try...
Well, now you know what I really meant, not that there's a difference.

Then they should start driving them.. John, above me is running a 12.01et, what makes the other guys more special than him? I bet he has insurance and an inspection. They have until April, that should be long enough.

I am thinking of guys with straight up gutted cars that weight 3000 lbs with a driver, and open headers. They can't drive anywhere but on the track, vs. guys with cars like John can drive it to Tulsa, race, and drive it home.

I personally want to keep it as simple as possible with as few rules and classes as possible. BUT, I am playing devil's advocate to get convo going.

What is the TNT class?

Paul beat me to it.

It's just test and tune. Make as many passes as you want. Just for giggles, chase a personal best, dial the car in, etc..

Good point, not exactly street legal at the end of the day...there's some text about this in the original FGR's thread, and the Mid-Atlantic shootout thread. just ideas guys, just ideas...
