Mark, I don't know what to say. You should call me before you post up. I could talk some sense into you. If you have a full race car just run it while you are waiting for your street/race car to get done. That's what I do.

There is a race this weekend at Fontana. Come on out, there will probably be several cars for sale there as well. It will be fun call me if you're interested. It is an NHRA race so it will be big. And you can't sell it until we get to run some races together like we talked about. However, if you really NEED to sell the car I will make you a super lowball offer. lol

Well, the lesson there for a lot of us is be careful what we wish for. Everything comes with a price, and it's not always measured in money. And I'm somewhat guilty of that myself.

Originally, I was only wanting an 11-sec daily driver. And I got there. But, it went afoul of the roll bar rule. So, I had to get that, because slowing the car down was driving me nuts. And now, since it's soooooo close to 10s, the need for speed is driving me to get there. I only hope that I'm not crossing over the gray area, and opening up pandoras box.

As I sit here right now, I have no desire to build my car into a 9-sec daily driver. I fully realize the exponential leap of effort (in so many ways) needed to legally cross over that 9.99 barrier. And I am consciously avoiding wanting to get close to 10.00, because I know the urge will be there. I have to keep reminding myself that I can live with mid to high 10s for another three years. Once I take my car off the street in 2011, then it will just be a weekend toy, and then I can do whatever I want (as long as I can afford it).

It was a lot of fun when we were all trying to be one of the first in the 11's, now that is common and 10's are the hot ticket. My original plan was an 11 second street car, but all you guys running 10's has me changing my plans too, but that will not happen until next year.

I'll be happy with mid 11's. I'll just have to learn to drive better to get there.

Mark this is not an attack on you, your car or any other involved parties. Just a state of the facts. I just dont think that the car should be misrepresented.

The car has never been in the 9's, so you saying 9 sec... is false.

Wow---thats a great post. I can speak from experience also. I am not going to push it any further because I too want a street car first---race car second. So 6.70's in the 1/8th (or 10.60's) is as far as I am going to go until I go full race. People going just a few tenths faster are breaking transmissions, rearends, etc, etc. I prefer to go a little slower yet have my car actually on the road.

I learned the hard way too, however. Years ago my first car was a 67 Mustang FB with a 428. Over the years I had it, I eventually turned it from a fun street car to a fast car that was totally unreliable-- I could only make it 20 minutes on the road before getting hot.

So I remember that car anytime I mod this one. The simple fact is, I ask myself before a mod "will I still be able to drive to Las Vegas and back?". If the answer is no, then I don't do the mod. That simple. I will not make the mistake of spending 20K in mods only to have a car that can only be driven a 1/4 mile at a time (for now).

Eventually, like Don W, my car will be race only, but that is a few more years. Until then I will live with my 10.60's-10.70's and still drive the car 300- 500 miles per week, like I do now.

I just haven't had chance to run a 1/4 mile track but the math doesn't lie. My 1/8 times = 9 sec 1/4 mile times. When my 1/8 times = 10.30 1/4 times - that's exactly what it ran so it's no different now and I don't feel it's 'misrepresenting' anything.

But, have no fear, before I deliver the car to any perspective buyer, I will include time slips and vids of it running 9 sec passes in the 1/4. When I do get the car back from Adam, getting the vids is my priority even it means taking it to another state to do it.

It should be up on ebay within a couple weeks since I didn't get any interest from the forums.

Mark, sorry to piss on your parade again but you are going to have to go faster that 6.43 in a blower car to get into the nines. Right now you are looking at around 10.15- 10.20's. Your calculator is very generous. You have a low 10 second car.

I dunno, Kev. It's damn close. My database I have put together shows 6.43 being about 9.99 (1/8-mi ET x 1.553 = 1/4-mi ET). And even if it's off slightly, it's still damn close. I also see on Adam's 9.887 run, his 1/8 ET was 6.35. And even NHRA requires 6.39 in the 1/8 to follow the same rules as 9.99. Worst case IMO, a 6.43 is still a 10.0x.

There's no sense debating it. The 6.43 was at 18 psi with 12º of timing and the car went back to Adam's because the pinion was way off, and one of my main lines in the harness was grounding out and losing power at 5000 rpm.

All the issues have been fixed and the car is now sitting at 20º of timing running like a champ.

Excuses and issues - I know - and none of it matters. The point is there will be vids up soon enough and we can debate something else.
