So I have been wanting to do this, but all the ones I have seen are $60 and plug and play. $60 is alot, so I did it for $20 and about 30 minutes.

Parts:
3rd Brake Light Flasher

Download Manual:

Tools:
Black Electrical Tape
Wire Cutters / Strippers / Crimpers
Pliers / Small Channel Locks
Small straight head screwdriver

How To:

So order the flasher from the link above. Should look like this when it comes in

It's about the size of a dime with some wires coming out.

So pop your trunk

Pull these 2 tabs. There is one on each side.

Pull the carpet down and slide the yellow handle through the opening in the carpet. This will give you acess to the 3rd brake light.

Unplug the connector from the light.

The Black wire is the ground, Yellow is the 12v power when the brakes are applied.

Cut the Yellow wire and strip the ends

Connect the red wire from the flasher to the Yellow wire on the harness end of the brake light wires.

Connect the Yellow wire from the flasher to the Yellow wire on the connector end of the brake light wire.

Connect the Black wire from the flasher to the Black wire on the brake light harness.

Now test to make sure the Green LED on the flasher lights up when you push the brake.

Helps to have a person in the car pushing the brake pedal.

LED is on top corner of flasher. Its very small.

Once it is confirmed that it works, you will then need to program it. Just tap the 2 white wires together to change modes till you get the one you want.

Once you have it set, tape up everything nice and neat.

Then stand back and admire your hard work and $40 savings.

I am sure it will be fine...unless you set it to just flash the whole time you have your foot on the brake. Then it would get annoying.

I've had one on my car for over a year. I love it and keeps people on their toes + it's cool to be different than most cars out there.

I installed mine yesterday, soldered it in though. (because racecar)

Works well, I get confused with setting it because you bump into a mode that has a delay and you're like ok WTF, but right now it's set at 5 flashes then solid, no delay.
I don't want to have to wait 40 seconds to have it flash again in case some asshole doesn't get the message.

LOL, i got tired of touching the white wires together and trying to figure out which one i wanted. i decided on 3 blinks then stays on and doesnt do it again for 30 seconds i think. hell i dont know i lost track, i'll have to go out tonight and look again. i didnt want it to keep flashing cause i thought it may make the bulb burn out faster.

I went down to 4 blinks and stays on, with no delay. seems like a good balance, 6 was a bit too long.
