My question is if a V6 grille would fit on a GT bumper. I think SharkTales did it on his old car and I really liked the clean look. Anyone have experience with this?

Here's a pic for reference

2005-09 the grille sizes, shapes, and mounting tabs are different between the V6 and GT bumpers. They are not interchangeable. You might get it to work with some extra fabrication and filler.

That is why you see aftermarket grilles for V6 and GT bumpers separately.

Well hot damn, I literally just ordered that grille a few days ago except without fogs... waiting on it to come in lol. Yeah, sharktales had it on his car. I'm planning on Wrapping the edges of it in chrome or silver door edge guard to fill the gaps. I know that front bumper is flexible as shat, so I'm going to try and just bend the tabs back and not break them.. as I may want to go back to stock.

Guy with pony package grille in GT bumper. The door guard seems to fill the gaps nicely.

I may use some 3m mounting tape to bring the bumper up to the grille if necessary.

This is going to be my "poor man's bullitt grille". Will update if successful, lol.

^Me too I hope it works out. I'll let you know what all is involved lol. I know you have to dremel out the lower two tabs in the center of the bumper, which are not used for the GT grille anyway. Pics of it on Shark tale's car where it can be clearly seen.

Well, got the grille in today on my off day. :naughty1: I was thrilled to find out it is actually painted! I was expecting a cheap matte plastic finish. Nope. This is piano shit. It looks spot on... for $64? I'm impressed. I bought it from ikonmotoring on eBay. Not sure if they are the ones who painted it or not, but it looks really good.

Bad pics, but you get the point. It looks damn good. I'm about to go on a man hunt for some tacky chrome door trim. Will post when I get it put on.

Fitment is not perfect, but I love it and it's not bad at all. Headed out to dinner now. Will post some how-to pics tonight.

Autozone. I looked at Napa and another store (maybe advance?) but they didn't have any.

It's made by "Cowles Custom"... comes in a roll with plenty of it for $10-11 bucks. You could probably paint it black if you don't want chrome. I think Napa may carry some in black, but not for sure on that.

Here's a couple of pics of the install. The bumper was not modified in any way to prevent me from going back to stock.

Stock grille removed:

Painters tape under the two tabs that you will dremel out.

Just make a tiny ass slit in each one. Make sure not to get it too big, or else the grille tabs would easily slide out. Also be sure to make the slit down low like on the other tabs, or else the bottom of the grille might not sit flush with the bumper.

Then cut all the tabs off the new V6 grille EXCEPT for the two that line up with the tabs you dremeled out on the GT bumper. Also do NOT cut the tabs on the top of the grille that have holes in them. Those help secure the top portion of the grille when you put the radiator cover back on.

^Pic of grille with the tabs removed.

Then just put it on! Work the two tabs in your small slots with your fingers. Don't push on the actual grille part too hard when doing this, or it might crack.

I want to eventually make some brackets or something to hold the top portion of the grille to the car, but it's fine for now. It may be a little flimsy on the sides, but not "flapping with the wind" bad. Nobody's going to push on it anyway.

Nice! Yeah I like it. There are small gaps on the side, but it hasn't bothered me so far. Nobody else in my household noticed them.

Fit may not be perfect, but for $76 I have no problems with it :highfive:

That's pretty sick looking. I guess stock for stock doesn't work but it doesn't take much to make it look good after all. Cool
