Good luck!
I never understood why Ford uses 5W20 oil in the new 5.0 engine. I use 5W30 in my 4.6 and 10W40 when I'm road racing - works great. I would try Valvoline SynPower Motor Oil 5W-40 and see if it gets ride of the valvetrain noise before having Ford tear the motor down.
S197 GT. I would go to the dealer and take a ton of pictures of your car. I had my Truck in the dealer to have the windshield replaced under warranty due to a leak and the tech scratched the shit out of the fenders with his belt buckle and then told me that the scratches were there when the truck came in. Funny how they were only 5-6 inches long and went up and down. CYA
they atleast gonna give you a loaner?
either they fix it and its good to go, or they really mess it up and stick a brand new engine in it. cant really go wrong since you havent voided yer warenty yet lol
Sounds like it's up top, lazy lash adjuster...I'm starting to wonder how long this aluminum block's going to be around.

...I've taken pictures AND had them fill out an inspection sheet of my own making WITH ME.
That being said, I would have done the same as you S197. That noise is way too loud for a brand new engine. It *could* be an injector ticking, but I would be willing to bet one of the Ford tech's used a stethoscope to check them. Ford doesn't just fly engineer's out to dealerships unless they're VERY sure something internal is bad or about to go bad.
Mine doesn't have any valvetrain noise *knock on wood* but quite a few others have.
LOTS of talk about it here: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/foru...tween-800-2000-rpm-after-fully-warmed-up.html
