For a few bucks more, you can get one with the preload screws. I'd pass.

Sometimes, the only reason you need to mod, is that you like it.

For hard launches on drag radials, I'd go with the girdle cover instead (with the preload bolts) to help keep the bearings from going egg shaped on hard launches. I can't see the finned cover being good for anything other than looks, unless you're road racing competitively.

Nice looking piece and I considered it also, but as others have said ...no preload bolts. Just make sure it will clear your panhard bar if your have an aftermarket version.

The preload bolts tighten down to the backside of the carrier cap bolts, thus preventing distortion/deflection. In theory, it's supposed to help keep your rearend together.

You can get a nice diff cover for that money.

Oh and you may need a PHB relocation bracket, I know I did.
There wasn't enough space and it would tap the cover going over bumps.

Look at the Steeda one from American Muscle. Its the same thing for much cheaper.

Edit: NVM this. I could have sworn the price was cheaper a while back, but apparently not.

About 10 degrees. It is a marginal upgrade for those who track their cars, but worthless on the street except to look pretty. The biggest benefit for road racers with this cover is the ability to add an external cooler and a temp sensor.

You can get just the covers from Ford and buy your own bolts. Tousley has them listed for $56.

Crap really? Let me check it out

Edit: Tousley does have them for $56, but no bolts and if you ever ordered from Tousley before they don't tell you shipping till its shipped and that could be anywhere for $15-25 for something like this. Then the hassle of looking for the right bolts and what not ebay listing seems more tempting...

I have this and it leaks out the drivers side load bolt. Its just a small amount that appears to be coming past the threads.

Mine leaked a little from those bolts as well. When I pulled the cover to install the Eaton True-Trac I cleaned the threads and put some silicone sealant on them before reinstalling. No more leaking from the threads.

We got one for my buddies 07 and went to Ace and bought a pack of Allen head bolts for 15 dollars. Much nicer than the is OEM style bolts......and still $50 cheaper than the eBay kit. Well worth the trouble.
