Hidguy Switchback install problems

Anyone install these or the Raxiom versions? Using the turn signal harness, hooking one up end of the resistor to the ground and the other to the signal wire(grey black stripe, the outer most wire) the running lights don't work, but the blinkers do. If I switch the resistor to the inner wire, the running lights work but the blinkers don't work. I didn't like the shitty plastic connectors so I then spliced them in and was going to solder them but i'm getting the problem.
