It's not so much the layout of the engine that does it. It's the timing of exhaust gas pulses colliding into each other due to the unequal length exhaust manifold. If you upgrade to any of the equal length manifolds on the market, which provide nice gains, they don't sound too far off from any other turbo 4 you will here with an exhaust on it.
But mine is real! LOLwarranty voided before car shipped.. haha

as for why people like 3v??
1) its cheaper
2) with good tune has ran stock over 800hp(RET)
3) I have high rpms you can only dream of
3v's FTMFW!!
