What would be the downside to plugging these things up?
How about maybe cutting the smallish tips off and extending the drains a good length away from the engine bay, if possible, with a rubber hose?
Gerardo
The downside to plugging them up would be the rain water has nowhere to go except into your passenger floorboard. Seriously, quit complicating it. Just remove the rubber pieces and throw them in the trunk or the glovebox. If you ever notice anything different with them missing then you can put them back in (would take all of 30 seconds).
This isn't a big deal.
I used "Marine GOOP" to seal these 4 years ago and they are still
holding strong, I took the foam gasket out when I did mine.
The reason silicone doesn't work is it really isn't an adhesive, it
will peal off after awhile, GOOP is a true flexible adhesive and the
Marine grade is UV resistant.
Thank you Sharad for this thread. After a hard rainy day I had a few kiddie pools on my passenger side floor and then a spectacular waterfall from my glove box on the ride home. I just spent ten minutes fixing the problem. The drain plug was cruddy and sealed closed. Now time to dry up the rest of the mess.
I have water leaks on both passenger side and driver side in heavy rain!
Yesterday my speakers were messed up, no bass for like an hour then it came back.
And it's not what is described here because those areas are clear, not sure what my next step is.
It's still a bit wet on the corner of the driver side floor behind the clutch pedal.
I guess I just have to cover it up when it rains.
I wonder if some door seal/window shit is on it's last leg.
My fucking passenger side is wet. Thanks for the write up Sharad. I'll be using this once it quits raining here.
