Great locals hop near Raleigh. I remember the first time I saw it at a local cruise, just Badass.

It's an old school pro street car, it's not meant for the track. It's a 60s to 80s type of car build that included big tucked tires, roll cages, and often blowers and bug catchers. Think drag car built for the street. this may explain it better: http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/what-pro-street-car-1426643-singlepost13.html
Whoa, whoa...

Those cars were built to emulate race cars. Sure, some of them were wimpy, but from the very start the 'pro street' thing was about a lot of tire and horsepower.

I don't see me saying they were wimpy, underpowered, or slow anywhere?

I happen to know that this pro street car will never, ever see the track. Power output was plenty for the owner/builder's purpose, but it wasn't the primary objective for this build, which was merging old school with new car.
