final run today

We only got 2 hits with the car today. The last run was [email protected] . The tune is soft, and can definitley be turned up The tires are some worn out BFGs I was using for trans testing on the street. Although I dont expect much more tomorrow, I will surely see a 9sec pass next trip out.
The car still spun in first, but seemed to hook in 2nd. Im sure some gear would definitley help out here in the 60' dept. Ill have some more testing donethis week, and an update before the weekend.
Thanks Adam

If it has good street manners, then it would seems like we are getting closer to that dream of a 9 second daily driver...

Well, Ive only been playing with this car for just over a week, and its been challenge. The 2011 GT is a new animal. Ive been dealing with normal issues with the software. The car is so new, the we just dont have everything in the software CMR and SCT to make a pefect tune for FI.
I took the car out to Irwindale on 575 rwhp and the trans would shut off in 3rd gear and the car would go flat. I understand this is a common issue, and most havent been able to solve it, hence c-4's are being installed.
After spending some more time on the dyno, and working on the trans, I not only have the trans working great now, but I also made 670 rwhp @13psi. I took the car off the dyno, and made 7 runs back to back on the street in front of my shop, and I was speechless. The car is just plain sick at this point. I have the trans shifting and 7500 rpms, and with 315 gears it just flat hauls ass. Heres the last dyno sheet. Thanks Adam

Wow that is a lot of power, I wonder why some unnamed tuners are claiming close power with less boost?

can a person run a 2.8L LC at about 8-10 psi safely on stock motor?

I want to make 550 - 600 rwhp, is this possible?

Thanks - keep up the good work

The question of longevity is something that can only be answered with time run at that power level.

Many engines will fall to bad tunes as well on way less power levels (with out ever reaching the stock engines potential).

I have a feeling the limitations of this engine on a rock solid tune will be 650-700 HP with good maintenance.

If your going to beat the shit out of it though I wouldn't push it as high.

My experience is that typically you can get a 75% increase over stock (on a solid platform) safely while keeping the above mentioned in mind.

Keep knock at bay... and everyone is happy. A little knock destroys hypereutectic pistons in short order at those power levels.

:wtf1:

Your first post is almost as strange as your screen name. Most people aren't brave enough to hand out tech advice so soon.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Have fun! :look:

I may be new to the mustang community; but certainly not to tuning on boost, nitrous, or both at the same time :-D.

The build date of my 5.0 is November 15th, I hope I get it before the new year.... :naughty1:

Any updates? Pop an engine yet?

LOL

Adam is a great guy and reall knows his shit... but I can't help but think that story is coming soon. No bad reflection on him of course, but if someone is going to find the "real" limits of that motor, I'd expect he'd be one of the first.

Man man! you guys have no faith in what the Gods of Ford have sent us....j/k I was there when his wife ran the car, that car is far from reaching its breaking point! I bet if something breaks first it won't be the engine! I see more concerns with the rear end or tranny!(not that the car was showing any issues)

Not too much to add right now. Im getting some street tuning in right now, working out a few things. I can say so far the fuel econmy has been impressive. I will be doing the throttle body upgrade tomorrow and hitting the track again next weekend. Looking to see around 700 rwhp with the t-body installed.

_______________________________________________________
I do plan on pushing this thing real hard, and should it live at 750, then so be it, but if it breaks, Im ok with that too. I am running it on the street on 11 lbs daily with 91 pump and torco (approx 93-94 octane). Ive already put 600 miles on the car ,mainly street. Im not being easy on her either. I see wot alot, cant help it. Love watching the tach at 7500 rpms. Trying to nail down a solid tune I can give to guys on the east coast should they want to buy a combo from me. Thanks Adam

Because we have 2 mag article in the process, I need to keep the stock gears, exhaust, trans, convertor, and odf course the stk engine for now. These Mods to be completed no later than the 2nd week of Dec.
Livernois forged rotating assy 11:1
ARH headers
PI tq convertor
3.73 gears with axle upgrade
full rear suspension
drivshaft upgrade
full 10 point cage and cert the chasis
full drag brake upgrade
Last but not least.....Kenne Bell 3.6LC ..can you say HELL YEAH?? I have it now, but want a forged bottom end before I install it.
Ill keep the thread updated as I go. Thanks Adam

My trans guy is a Ford Master Tech and Trans specialist. He personally feels 800 rwhp for the 6 speed wont be any issue at all. The convertor will be the weak point, which Im sure Ill find here shortly. The new 6spd auto is built way stronger than a 4r70w. Rear axle wise, Ive pushed stock 8.8;s to the mid 9's with the stock track loc shimmed up. Not that I rec. that, just did it to see.
Thanks Adam

Id say absolutely. Im running 11psi daily right now, and beating the crap out of it. 10lbs on a conservative tune, should live at 550 rwhp. Thanks Adam

This run was done on 11lbs peak @620 rwhp. We have not raced at 12.9lbs yet, that is this coming weekend. Thanks Adam

Very nice adam...

I must let you know that you have a lot of respect from me for doing this step by step.

Unlike others you are going that extra mile, going step by step to actually find the physical breaking point (which takes nuts) - rather then just building the motor right out of the gate.

I gotta' tell you my money is going to KB or Whipple, right now it seems to be a looks based decision though.

Do you have a 700 HP graph I can see? (id like to check out the curve)

That thing must be AWESOME to drive on the street!
