Had my Eaton True Track Differential installed and when I picked up the car I asked how the install went and got some disturbing news, they set the backlash to .007 factory spec and added Synthetic gear oil to it. Now here's the thing before the install I went to the shop and met with the owner and told him that I had talked with Eaton and they said #1. Check backlash before disassembly record it and set the backlash the same since I am reusing my existing 3:73 gears and #2. Do not use Synthetic gear oil the shop owner was off yesterday when I picked up the car so now what do I do the oil can be drained but the set up of the backlash for the gear now can not be fixed since they never recorded what it was so if it starts gear wine down the road the only fix that I know of is a new ring and pinion gear and new set up. The shop owner left me a voice mail last night saying Eaton told him Synthetic gear oil was ok but I talked with there tech again this morning and he said no one would have told him that he did say the Synthetic oil would not hurt it but it would be less effective, What the hell do I do now, what options do I have before I have my face to face with this shop owner.
