Lowered guys - Do you cut your rear bumpstops?

I'm running Tokico D-Specs and Steeda sport springs. Should I cut one nubby off of them?

Yes. I have the cj lowering springs and when I took my car off jack stands the frame sat on the stops I had to cut mine almost in half, I could still use some trimming on them too.

I still need to do mine as well. I've bumped them a couple of times, but it's been kinda surprising how few times it's happened. I've had my car lowered for at least six months now. But I've also got about an inch and a half of clearance as it is now. So I'm just going to cut the top nub off and see what that does for me.

I have the identical spring/strut combo and I didn't trim the bumpstops. The steeda springs don't lower enough for it to be a big issue.

When you do hit them, and you will trimmed or not, you'll want as much shock absorbing material as possible. So if you do trim, just a litte off the top.

I just installed the FRPP Mustang GT Jounce Bumpers part number M-5570-A. Car is in storage so I don't know what the difference is from the OEM bumpers. Anyone tried them?

just picked up the FRP bumpers front and rear but I have not installed them yet. I cut the top nub off of the stock rears and the car seemed to sit down a bit better in the corners.

I have had my FRPP springs for nearly 3 years and did not trim my bump stops. I don't believe mine have ever hit

Did a search and came up with this thread. I have been hitting mine constantly with Steeda Ultralights without cutting the bump stop. Gonna take off the top today and see if that helps. Thanks...Shane

I had Steeda sports with an Adj upper so i was low in the rear, i trimmed just the top and still made contact, trimmed some more, still contact, you may as well just cut it in half and be done with it.

That's really weird. I've been running ultralites on my 08 for three years, and have never had a problem. In fact, looking at the stops while the car is on the ground, I have no idea how you would ever bottom out on the stops.
