Hey Guys,

Well, I'd like to say I regret selling my PC a couple of years ago, but I needed the cash. Needless to say, I sold over 15 Pads, 2 different compounds, Brand new Dodo Juice wax, 2 backing plates, pad condition, and a few other small things for about 150 bucks to a guy.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford a Flex at this time. So, I am getting a 7424XP HD model. However, I am stumped between some deals @ Autogeek.

http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-porter-cable-swirl-remover.html

I am really leaning toward the first link for the Pinnacle wax with 16 oz containers. Has anyone used all three of these products? I am just getting back into the game, so I want something that is easy to use, and will work great on a Black car with swirl marks and a few scratches.

I feel the first link is going to be the best overall, considering the size of the product you get, and the different types.

Any help is appreciated!

-Chris

PS - I did mean Advice. Distracted @ work sending these damn emails out. I was typing please advise and advice at the same time, lol.

I'd actually go with the Wolfgang kit if those were your only options. Wolfgang Paint Sealant 3.0 is a lot better than liquid souveran. The swirl removers are pretty much the same product.

Wolfgang and Pinnacle are both PBMG products.

If you do not need any of the waxes/sealants, I'd look into one of the Menzerna kits. I feel you might be able to piece together your own kit though.

Not really sure which Menzerna kit to buy, haha. There are a few.

I also plan on getting a Yellow and an Orange Pad as well.

Will the Menzerna Polish remove swirl marks fairly easily? Or do I need a more aggressive polish.
Thanks again!

Personally, I'd piece together your own kit. I like menzerna polishes, I feel they work good in different levels of humidity vs. other polishes.

As far as swirls go, it really depends how bad your car is. You'll want a compound and a finishing polish at very miminum.

As far as Menzerna is concerned the holy grail combination has been known as SIP (Super Intensive Polish) and PO85rd (finishing)

There's also power finish, which is a variable polish. It has more bite than a standard polish, but can finish LSP ready.

Would this be a good option for me then?

My car is not horribly bad. Only a few panels have bad swirl marks, not to the point of where you can run your finger over them and feel the gauge of the scratch, but, enough to visibly see in light.

I've tried pricing kits together, and I always end of hitting 330-340 with less than the kit above offers.

because youre most likely selecting better products.

Thats a decent kit, but you'll still need a sealant and/or wax.

The finishing glaze is nice, if you can't get your surface 100% perfect, it'll work as a filler for you.

The 6.5" pads are ok. I prefer 5.5 though for a DA.

Do the zip lock baggy test. Put your hand in a baggy and feel along the panels of the car.

I'll be using the Wolgang Estate wax I purchased from yours truly. That's good to use right?

I'll be buying some pads and additional back plates down the road, for now, the basic pads the kit comes with should work good.

Thank you for your help on this! If I could give you some rep points, I would in a heart beat man!

Fuzion is a good wax, you'll like it. It looks like Pinnacle Souveran, but not as wet, has more of a shimmer to it. Lasts a good bit longer though.

It works really well with Wolfgang Sealant 3.0. So if your car isnt in bad shape, I'd go with the wolfgang kit. You need to want to polish your car often to get the price benefit of menzerna anyway.

Sealant first, then wax. Never put a sealant on top of a wax.

Gotcha.

I'll get a sealant later on. For now, I will put 1-2 coats of the Fuzion wax on after I polish with the Menzerna kit. I figure that kit would be good for me so I don't overuse and run out of product. This way I can use a little at a time, and still have plenty left.

I'll post some pics before and after once I start polishing.

Thanks again man, this helps me out a ton!

Sweet! I ordered that kit.

I'll probably order those caps if I dislike the caps on the Menzerna containers.

Seer is giving you good advice. The 5.5 in pads are a better way to go. The PC will perform much better with the smaller pads. It may even struggle a little to keep the big 6.5s spinning. The 5.5s are also easier to work into small areas. I have no idea why Autogeek does not offer very many kits with 5.5 pads (unless it is to sell more pads later).

Otherwise, nice kit. The 7424 is a nice machine and Menz polishes are top shelf.

I agree on piecing together but if you're on a budget you made the right choice. You can add other stuff as you go.
