With your use of "its" instead of "it's", and incorrectly spelling "graduated", I'd look for a discount. :dunce:

Just fucking with ya. But seriously, I swore years and years ago that my children would never have an excuse to NOT attend college. I had no choice but to quit high school when I was a kid. Any hope of education after high school was a joke. We lived out of the car at times.

Both of my children know the value of hard work and education. They have both decided to "help" by going through military schools. My daughter is a 2LT in the Army National Guard. My son plans on going the same route. Even with that help, college is still expensive. As you well know!

Well, does "it" count to say my English is very poor when I'm on a mustang forum? lol, plus my major was Economics's. English is not my strong point. As far as discounts go, none for me. They look at my parents salary who really could not afford to help me but according to New Jersey, they should been able to pay for the whole thing. I guess they didn't calculate NJ taxes, & 4 kids into that equation.

Well, on a second thought I'm lying a little bit here. My parents payed for my County College and I paid for the 4 year school.

Military not a bad way at all. A buddy of a buddy went into the Air Force, they paid all the way till he got his master's.

Nice! How much deposit did the dealer require?

10K

Is your dealer even sure they're getting one? Did they give you an estimate on pricing?

They have been allotted 35 & I am 4 or 5 on the list. Pricing estimate is 60-70 k with the performance pack, track pack & Recaro's. They don't really know for sure but expect to have the pricing March 1 when they start to put in orders.

Hey 70K :beerdrink:

I would imagine he ordered one if the dealer didn't have one coming in.

Congrats man! I am SO jealous! I can't afford one with a daughter in college and a son heading that way next year.

Luckily my kids are all out of scholl & on their own so the old man can spend on himself!

No way that thing is even thinking about hitting the assembly line for March 1st. We still cant even price them out!! I wouldnt be surprised if you dont see it until June..Grats, and not trying to be debbie downer here, but if they told you that it will get built on March 1st, they just lied to you..

I am told I can put my order in on March 1 and yes, I don't expect it until June but at least i will be able to drive it this summer! I have actully heard when production will start.

Congrats Rick! I hope it's here in time for Street Machine Weekend.

I agree. It would be nice to finally make it down for that.

On 17 May 2010, I put a $2000 deposit down on a 2011 GT 500, when I left the dealership, I had the following:
.
Copy of the vehicle retail order form. ( agreed to price )
Copy of the vehicle order confirmation form ( options & color choices )
Receipt for my deposit.
Estimated 8 to 12 week delivery.
.
You put down $ 10,000.00..
Don't know the price ?
Don't know the options or color choices ?
Have no order confirmation, or when orders will be allowed to be placed ?
Have no idea when the first build will start ?
No idea when the car will be delivered ?
...................If, when you can place your order, it turns out the cost of what you want is more than you can swing, will they refund your deposit ??
.
I wish you all the best, hope it works out for you !!

Sounds more like you are "buying the right" to order a 2013.

My dealer won't take my order just yet since it looks like you can't officially order the GT500 until March 1st, which you will get a buyers order once you complete the order.

I'm not worried about being able to swing it or I wouldn't have done it. Most of the options have been revealed but you pretty much know what you are getting with the GT500.

That's pretty much what it is. Puts me right on top to get one of the first ones the dealer gets. I can pick the options etc as soon as they are available. Here in Canada we have a short time in the summer to be able to drive these cars so if I want to be able to drive it this summer, my best bet was to get a deal done early.

I actually heard Ford was going to curb back the GT500 production since there are hundreds of 12's sitting on dealer lots right now.

i was wondering the other day if the boss cars are hurting gt500 sales as it seems the shelbys are really being discounted but dealers are dropping the boss prices much

You know, I thought long and hard about buying a Boss or a Shelby.

Stock for stock the Boss weighs less and runs a few tenths behind the Shelby in the quarter. It also handles a tad better than the Shelby too.

Now bolt on mods is where the Shelby flexes its muscles and waves good bye. Simple bolt ons the Shelby leaves the boss in the dust for pure power and speed.

Now supercharge the Boss and it's a different story.

I guess my other issue with the Boss was... $43,000 for a car with no options? Ouch. Or $46,000 for a car with a lot of options, and a built supercharged engine.

I feel Ford is really taking advantage with the Boss nameplate on it's pricing.

I also feel 2013 and 2014 will be the final years the Mustang has a Shelby name plate as supposedly the agreement runs up with the S197. My predictions is, we will see the Cobra name come back.

I've been saying that for the last 3 years, and so far I haven't been right, lol. I agree, Ford is milking the Boss and GT500 names, but why not, it's been working.

I feel your prediction will be right, but your timing is off. I remember reading way back when the 2007 GT500 was announced that Ford and Shelby signed an 8 year deal. Wouldn't you know it, there will be 8 years of Shelby GT500s on the S197 Chassis.

Just a thought. :D

When they were first announced in '06, it was rumored to be a 2 year deal, then 4, then... Well, here we are. This is the first I've heard of an 8 year agreement.

I wish I could find the article again because I remember throwing it in a dealer's face when they tried that $20k mark up shit with me, saying they were limited to one year.

edit: it was a 3 year deal, with a possible extension.

Congrats on getting into a 500. Between the economy taking a dump and a kid going to college soon, I'll be in my GT for a while, a long while. :thumb2:

Just got an update from the dealer. I was # 4 on their list of purchasers but they were only alotted 2 in the first production run (May). My order is in at Ford and it is anticipated to be built in June. Performance white with black stripes & interior, performance package & Recaros. This is going to be a long wait.
