Powder coated wheels help/

I was in the process of detailing my car today when I got to the wheels. I noticed there is a film on the wheels that will not come off with my normal soap and water. I then tried Mcguires wheel cleaner and nothing.

I am hoping someone can chime in because I really do not want to have to have them re coated. They are gloss black fr500's and now they look almost flat black or grey.

Try sonax full affect, thats about as strong as it gets for a ph neutral cleaner.

If that doesn't cut it, you'll need Meguiars Detailer Series Wheel Brightener. Do not breath it in, or get it on your hands. You will also need acid neutralizer after. If that doesn't get it off... time for a recoat.

Would like to know more about this also. I have some stubborn water spots on the lips of the rims on the car and have tried and tried to get them clean. They are chrome and have tons of spots on them that will just not come out!

I'd give some cleaner wax a shot before I got acid involved.

a low powerf OTC wheel cleaner is more cleaning ability than a cleaner wax.

10-30% Ammonium bifluoride
1-5% Quaternary ammonium chloride

has a pH of 5.5

I've read and listened to all kinds of hype. The only thing I've found for my chrome wheels is a good cleaning with soap and water, blow dry with the leaf blower and wax. Takes a little work but the wax takes just about anything off chrome wheels. I use meguiers, nothing fancy.

use something like a high temp sealant like rejex or a nano coating, it will stand up to brake dust better than a "wax"
