Had to drop the tank to get it in?

I had to loosen my tank and say a fair amount of foul language to to get my pumps in. That wasn't a design problem as much as a gas tank not being lined uo with the access hole problem.

Pumps went in fine and have been working for over 18-months.

I was in a time crunch and didn't have time to get it in the air.

Broke out an air saw and closed my eyes.

Come on, they're not that bad. I've done 3 of them now and never had to drop the tank to do it. I'll admit, it's not exactly a walk in the park, but it's really not that bad.

He's venting and he has a right too. Not getting the access hole lined up with the tank really is slip-shod engineering.

I agree, and it's rediculous that it's so far off. But, it's still not that big of a deal to swap the pump...

If it's the floor hole to tank hole issue.....horrible design but an easy fix...if you aren't scared to cut the floor!

Looked at mine and didn't even try. Opened the hole in the floor up and it slid right in. Either rivet or run some self tappers in a "patch" panel and cover it up with the seat!!

Does kinda piss a guy off when ya think about it though!:wtf:

Thank you... you are spot on!

Yes, VENTING last night (pun here). Also high as a kite from the fumes even with good ventilation. Back killing me today from the wonderful positions required to install them.. The pumps do go in but it takes alot of 'turn pump, lower, stuff hose, turn pump lower.. rinse repeat. All while you are freggin paranoid about screwing up the damn sending unit.

This has to be my least favorite job.

Wait until you do a triple pump set up! Next time, try removing the rear seats and then crawl in through the trunk. You can lay on your belly, see into the tank perfectly and get the right angle on the hat as you slide it in. I did also trim the leading edge of the floor board just a little...guess I cheated!

Go at it with the torch. Please video the install though. LOL

GoPro is on the freggin way lol.. You may just get your wish.. the flippin fuel gauge reads zero with 5 gallons of fuel. MTHRFKR!!!! The resistance was nice and consistent when I checked the bastard. I will look into it some more... after the torch is warm and the vid is rollin.. Don't think I won't...

CHEATER!! I have a vert so getting in is not so bad but no way to go thru the trunk.. it would be easier that way I bet..

Dual 405's in a fore hat setup for a return system is about to go in.

I spent 20 plus years at a dealership before going back to school for the engineering degree, and I have your answer (which came directly from a field engineer) - the engineer that designs somethng may not recognize it by the time it goes to production.

Something gets designed and put into a mule, which then goes out for durability and safety testing. If EVERYTHING doesn't work right on the first attempt, some new kid gets the job of reworking the offending item and could care less about what's around it. Second, putting the vehicle together in the absolute shortest amount of time is a very high priority, so the bean counters probably have more clout than the engineers.

That means you, me and everybody else that tries to work on just about anything is at the mercy of 'the system'. If it doesn't take more than a day or two to replace a $2 part under warranty, the whole thing goes into production. This sucks, but that's the way it is.
