A little seat time would go a long way as well. If he does a few track days he'll easily drop 8 seconds off his time there.

In the meantime I'm thinking of getting brake lights that say "SHELBY KILLER".

Brakes, tires, etc won't mean much once he gets a little seat time in especially at Lightning. I was 2 seconds faster in my A5 stock everything than the Miata. That car weighs 3900# and has 265 hp. Other than the section from T1 thru T5 it's pretty much drag racing with 1 left hander and the bowl.

my 09 mazdaspeed3 on R888s and engine mods turned a 1:19.9 and my '13 ford stock on pirelli all season turned 1:25 @ lightning

Audi A5 with Audi Sline suspension on summer performance tires. It's a quattro so it does have an advantage in the bowl which carries into front straight speed.

There was a stock 4.6 going sub 1:20's a while ago so it's possible. AI does run this track in the 1:13's on Toyo's which aren't great.

Best lap time for the driver of this beautiful FR500S Miller Cup car: 1 minute, 23 seconds. Best time for me in my lowly 1995 mustang: 1 minute, 15 seconds
