Could my tranny be hurt

so i changed my tranny fluid on my 09 GT today and only about a pint and half came out,, i saw no metal shavings nor did it have any smell to it. refilled it with ford tranny fluid,, shifts 100% better. ( 5 speed ) also changed the diff fluid it was black as pitch.

I had great results running Pennzoil Syncromesh in my 5 speed. At the time it is what Tremec was recommending. I installed the T56 six speed in March and now Tremec is recommending Mobil1 synthetic ATF.

Good thing you caught it now. If its shifting normal then I wouldnt worry. How many quarts low was it?

You should be fine if you havent been having issues before the fluid change. I liked the Royal Purple fluid (dont remember the exact one) in the 3650

if i had to hazard a guess im gonna say at least 3.6 seeing only a pint and a half came out... now i know that the car was never serviced,, the rear diff fluid was the worst smelling crap i ever changed in my life.. and i'v been doing this for the better part of 38 years.

Wow that was freaking low. Sounds like you bought it used from a slacker owner. Might as well change all the fluids.

all fluids are complete.. it was just too hot to get under it last week when i first bought it.

Ford specs Mercon atf. Is that what you used? I've used dexron 3, RP syncromax, RP atf, and combinations of the above. Anything but atf will thicken up in the winter so you have to take it easy shifting until the fluid warms up. RP syncromax in warm weather with a 3650 really makes a difference.
