Hey guys,
First time S197 owner here. I had a '22 Ecoboost/ 10 spd previously. That's the extent of my real world Mustang experience since the 90's lol.
I posted up my new to me '14 GT Premium over on new members. I went through it yesterday as well as put about 200 miles on it over the last couple three days. When it came off the carrier the back seats were down and the trunk was packed with original parts that had been replaced. I'll list what the replacements are here, maybe guys could comment on what they think of the quality, etc.
-Front and rear sway bars and mounts, not sure the brand, they're black and have billet mounts with red bushings.
-Eibach springs all around with Koni adjustables
-New tie rod ends (not sure why, the ones installed look stock)
-LCAs, replaced with UMI Performance non-adjustable units
-Adjustable panhard and brace not sure brand
-Adjustable upper control link not sure brand
-K&N CAI
-Flowmaster axle back
I checked the PCM with Forscan and I can't see if it's got a tune but I'm pretty inexperienced with Forscan to know for sure. With the money the PO put into this car, I'd be surprised if it didn't.
The car is a Track Package car and is wearing the stock wheels and brakes as you can see, looks like he upgraded to aftermarket lug nuts too. Running square, 265/40-19 Bridgestone Potenza Sport.
Anyway, I mention all this because my interest with this car is to run it in local autocross and occasional grudge nights at the drags. For that it needs an axle loop. I also want to drive it on the street for fun. It's not a daily driver and will probably be towed to any races.
The car runs and drives very well, no strange noises until 70, more on that in a minute. It shifts as well as the MT-82 probably can with the stock shifter. The problem is at 70-80 on the highway. The drone, or what I describe as more of a harmonic noise, between those speeds is nearly unbearable. So much so that I'm questioning whether it's a bearing whine somewhere or just those mufflers.
Anyway, my list of immediate mods is to get rid of the Flowmasters and put something a little tamer sound-wise on it. I was going to change the trans fluid right off with BG Syncro shift as well as it needs a brake fluid flush. Depending on how the trans feels after that, possible a shifter and or bracket insert.
After that, find a reputable tuner locally and have him get a baseline and talk about a tune.
Any input from the member's would be welcome.
