Hey guys,
First time S197 owner here. I had a '22 Ecoboost/ 10 spd previously. That's the extent of my real world Mustang experience since the 90's lol.
I posted up my new to me '14 GT Premium over on new members. I went through it yesterday as well as put about 200 miles on it over the last couple three days. When it came off the carrier the back seats were down and the trunk was packed with original parts that had been replaced. I'll list what the replacements are here, maybe guys could comment on what they think of the quality, etc.

-Front and rear sway bars and mounts, not sure the brand, they're black and have billet mounts with red bushings.
-Eibach springs all around with Koni adjustables
-New tie rod ends (not sure why, the ones installed look stock)
-LCAs, replaced with UMI Performance non-adjustable units
-Adjustable panhard and brace not sure brand
-Adjustable upper control link not sure brand
-K&N CAI
-Flowmaster axle back
I checked the PCM with Forscan and I can't see if it's got a tune but I'm pretty inexperienced with Forscan to know for sure. With the money the PO put into this car, I'd be surprised if it didn't.
The car is a Track Package car and is wearing the stock wheels and brakes as you can see, looks like he upgraded to aftermarket lug nuts too. Running square, 265/40-19 Bridgestone Potenza Sport.
Anyway, I mention all this because my interest with this car is to run it in local autocross and occasional grudge nights at the drags. For that it needs an axle loop. I also want to drive it on the street for fun. It's not a daily driver and will probably be towed to any races.
The car runs and drives very well, no strange noises until 70, more on that in a minute. It shifts as well as the MT-82 probably can with the stock shifter. The problem is at 70-80 on the highway. The drone, or what I describe as more of a harmonic noise, between those speeds is nearly unbearable. So much so that I'm questioning whether it's a bearing whine somewhere or just those mufflers.
Anyway, my list of immediate mods is to get rid of the Flowmasters and put something a little tamer sound-wise on it. I was going to change the trans fluid right off with BG Syncro shift as well as it needs a brake fluid flush. Depending on how the trans feels after that, possible a shifter and or bracket insert.
After that, find a reputable tuner locally and have him get a baseline and talk about a tune.
Any input from the member's would be welcome.

Go up to 85, press the clutch and let the car roll. If the drone is still there, it is not the exhaust.
The speed range 60-80 is often the driveshaft.

Never noticed that vortex generators (?) at the rear bumper cover.

Someone put in the wrench time on her... she's got some nice mods except for those mufflers. I would recommend Griffix solution to figure out the drone, but either way ditch those mufflers.

I would research that color with track pack is probably very rare?

Good idea, I should have thought of that yesterday while I had it out.
As for those things on the underside of the valance, I never noticed them either until I got this one. A '14 thing?

I'll look into Griffix, thanks.
I figured it was pretty rare too. I had ordered the Marti personalized stats last week, still waiting on it. I think you're right though, track pack, green and all the other options that could be checked were, except safety package.

If they're the older "40 Series" Flowmasters, yes they'll drone. I had those American Thunder 40 Series on my '03 Cobra and loved the sound...except for that drone. Wasn't nearly as bad as you describe, but still there. If you want to keep the chambered muffler rumble, I put "Delta 60 Series" Flowmasters on my '08 and they sound just as good as the 40s, with almost no drone. Not sure how they'd sound on a Coyote, but this has been my experience.

Nice ride!

If you want some extra volume, great flow and quality with 0 drone, highly recommend the Corsa Sports (or extremes if you want louder).

Both will sound great on an an otherwise stock exhaust…and if you do upgrade to LTs, it will get a lot louder with no drone.

Thanks for the input. I took it up to 70 again today and pressed the clutch and the noise I was hearing stopped, I'm convinced it's the mufflers. I've heard a lot of good about the Corsa Sports, similar to the Ford Performance GT500s?

The Ford GT 500 mufflers sound great, no drone, quiet enough around the neighborhood, but they open up and sound even better at WOT.
When I bought my car, it had Legato mufflers on it and you needed hearing protection to drive it any distance on the highway.

Good to hear, I was between those and the other Ford Performance muffler, They call it the Sport. Hoping for about the same sound as the GT500s.
Where abouts it RI are you from? I did my career up there before coming down here to SWFL.

These are the mufflers I was referring to: M-5230-MGTCA1 (Not the Sport)
They used to be around $500. Now they are around $725.
I spent most of my life just over the border in Milford and then Hopedale, Massachusetts, but I moved to North Smithfield RI about 2 years ago.
Where did you work up north and where are you now in Florida. I am actually a Florida resident now (Venice) but still go north for the summer.

Auto X and drags are mutually exclusive goals, hard to set the car up to be good at both. For auto X you are going to want larger stickier tires. Mine is getting 285/35-19 square Michelin 4s. Your suspension set up will be OK for Auto X, mine is on Eibach Pro Kit springs and works fairly well. I will be upgrading to Vorshlags Track Kit with H&R shocks and different Eibach springs, stiffer in front and slightly softer in back. Ideally I would like to go to a 19x11 wheel set with 305/30-19s all around but I have GT500 wheels that are 9.5" wide and will work pretty well without spending another $2500 or so.

Drags require the car to hook from a dig, not a strong suit of handling tires and suspension settings. You want a 28" tall drag tire in back and softer springs and shocks to get weight transfer the handling suspension resists. If you do those things the handling goes to shit, if you don't it will just spin through 1st and 2nd gears, which makes you slow at the strip.

Looks like a decent start to a handling set up, love the green. Good Luck with your direction on the car, it will be fun regardless.

I should have been clearer of my intentions. I'd definitely lean towards autoX, thats where most of my interest is as well as what the mods are. Any drag racing would be purely recreationally, like a grudge night open racing. Not trying to be real competitive there. Just the required ds loop is on my list of mods.

I nstalled the Ford Performance Sport axle backs. The sound was just what I was looking for. Very happy with it. I still have the driveshaft whine, starts at 60, loudest 70-80. Nonexistent after 80.

I bought my car with quite a few engine mods, 3,2,1 build with cams, headers, ported Boss manifold etc. The seller was a straight line guy for sure and neglected most of the suspension. I am correcting that because I did SCCA Auto X events all last summer and really enjoyed it. Just know that straight line, even on a 305 section tire, I can't leave hard and most runs, once it got on the cams over 5000 rpm it would break loose in second gear. Drags are won and lost on the starting line. Just expect to be frustrated with that program unless you buy a set of drag radials for those events.

I can't help with quieting your car down, mine is crazy loud with an off road X and no resonators finished with GT500 mufflers. Normal where I live so easy to tolerate. Quiets down nicely cruising though, I have done multiple 8 hr road trips in the car comfortably.

Other mods, just buy the MGW shifter, I have a gen2 Barton and seriously dislike it. Factory clutch is generally the issue with shifting. I have a Spec stg2 kevlar faced clutch, GT500 master cylinder and braided line. My MT 82 is also built with CF synchros and bronze guides so I have not had the high rpm lock out many experience with stock set ups.

Nothing wrong with remote tuners, especially if you are not wanting a full max effort dyno tune. You need a tuner device, mine is SCT, so you can data log for the tuner. They make adjustments, you install the updated tune. P1 Underground is very popular these days. That is probably who I will use when I install the larger throttle body and CAI.
