It seems like tire compounds are changing fast over the past year or so. I've seen where GRM has done at least 2 tests this year. The one thing I don't like about their tests are the test car. They always use a lightweight car. My bullitt isn't lightweight.
I ran a set of RS3's in 2012 on the mustang. This year I ran a set of RS3's on the mazda 3. Missed the HP and rear wheel drive, so bringing the mustang back out for 2014 and the new STU. I've sold the tires for the bullitt, so I'm back in the market for new shoes.
I'm trying to get a handle on what to buy, but not finding a lot of info in regard to what would be a good tire for this heavy, front strut car. Right now my thoughts are going back to the RS3 since I know how it feels. A set of 285's wore very well on a 10" wheel w/ ~2degree of camber. All the testing I've seen says the Rival is the way to go. Right now the Rivals are only available in a 275, no 285.
Does anyone have some tech info on which tire would be better suited for a S197?
Appreciate the feedback....
As for the car, it has some basic mods: Steda sport springs, tekico dampers, eibach sways. Camber plates will be added, but that's about all I can do for next year. No, this car is NOT properly prepped for STU. The only person I'm running against next year is my son and I want him to beat me, but he'll have to earn it.
