I already have a bunch of 5.5 Hex Logic pads for my PC. But I want to upgrade to either a Flex XC3401 or a Rupes 15 ES. Anyone have experience with the Rupes? Can you use the 5.5" pads on either the Flex or the Rupes 15 ES?

Flex or Rupes, cant go wrong with either one. I have a 3401 and Rupes mini - set for life with this combo...even though the 3401 is forced rotation, its still extremely safe. Pair the Flex with LC 5" Hybrid pads = matched made in heaven!

Just an fyi, Flex will displaying a new model at this years SEMA...

I wouldn't call the Flex extremely safe, especially not compared to the Rupes. Both have their place tho

Most recent order:
2 C'Quartz Finest kits
CarPro Eraser
Iron X
Reflect
Microfiber Madness Dry me crazy towels
Hydr02
A lot of Buff and shine pads (MF and foam)
A couple of backing plates for the Makita
64 ounces of leatherique rejuvenator oil

I have used it with super dry and cracked leather in my old gti. Did wonders. Now I use it twice a year on my Mustang.

  • Chemical Guys 'Vintage' Leather Cleaner / Conditioner
  • Chemical Guys 'Vintage' Heavy Metal Polish
  • Stoners Glass Cleaner
  • 303 Aerospace Protectant
  • Bunch of LCC Pads
  • LCC Backing Plate for PC + PC Wrench (Lost it lol)
  • Nanoskin Autoscrub Fine Grade Wash Mitt
  • Nanoskin Glide Lubricant
  • Lastly, Bronze Wool

The Flex 3401VRG is obviously in between the PC and rotary. I still would consider it damn safe. By the way, nice order.

Forgot to add, also picked up the Meguiars Microfiber Correction kit. I haven't tried it out yet and have wanted to for a while. I usually tend to use Menzerna on everything but still want to try it out.

Leatherique is amazing, I do a lot of work in older exotics (most recently a 1983 Ferrari 512 bbi) and they need serious leather care. Leatherique requires a lot of time but the results are amazing.

In your hands it's safe, it's safe. In a n00bs hands it can still be dangerous on hard edges, more for burns than holograms. The rupes is a lot softer with its motion and requires less force to control.

Let me know what you think of the CG metal polish, I am using Optimum metal polish right now and I like it.

Side note: 4 years ago I never would have guessed I'd know enough to disagree with you and have actually experience to emphasize my point lol. Thanks for all the help back then and the inspiration, if it wasn't for you, seer, and DKS I wouldn't have spent this morning polishing a $3,400,000 Ferrari Lusso.

^ Nice work by the way!

Probably wrong choice of words using "extremely" on my part...

I'll give leatherique a try...

I don't think we are really disagreeing at all in reality. I'm not saying you can't hurt the paint with a Flex 3401VRG at all. Of course if you get careless on edges, at speed, with a compound you're going to do damage. I still consider it safe, not 100% safe. Obviously a PC7424 you need to throw at the paint to damage it. :roflmao:

That's kind of funny as my go to Metal Polish has been Optimum Metal Polish for quite some time now. I haven't found anything better, both formulations of the Optimum Metal Polish, were great. I've used it but to be honest it wasn't something I can compare to. I had an exhaust tip for my truck I polished out with some white / green rouge. Finished with the Chemical Guys Metal Polish. In the end it came out amazing but I do realize a lot of it was the initial polishing. From my use so far, it's definitely up there with Optimum Metal Polish.

Very nice work! I'm glad we all were able to inspire you to love detailing. I haven't been around very much. And to be honest my vehicles have been getting the short end of the stick lately. I'm starting to get back into it though. Anyways, keep up the good work man! :thumb:

Yeah I think it's just a case of semantics really.

Nice order! Can you let us know how the 3D Towel Kleen is?

I just used it last night and I must say it stands head and shoulders above CG MF wash! It left my towels almost perfect and that was a big feat for this load since I did a single stage yellow car that stained all of my towels. It even removed the stains from also weeks was that were still there after a CG wash! GT real stuff and a great price. This is definitely going to be useful since I just got a whole order of new Microfiber Madness Towels (German made microfiber towels and they are the best I have ever used)

Bought locally but it's detailing related so it still counts:

5 Dry Me Crazy
5 Dry Me Crazy Jr
5 Wave Rider
10 Yellow Fellow
5 Cloud buster
5 Crazy Pile

$502.50

Thanks for the update! I think I'm set for life with all the towels I have but I keep hearing those MM towels are the best,! Can never have enough MFs right? You definitely need them on those high end rides you're working on...
